Becoming Leela is tough
Jun. 4th, 2010 11:26 amI'm learning how to do her make-up today, and her make-up was fairly minimal on the show. Mostly bronzing and shading. But the one thing that will amuse me about the costume is this:
I have much bigger boobs than the lovely Louise (who played Leela). Hers look to be a B or C cup at most. My jummlies are a bounteous D. Dancing around in her skimpy costume will be quite the sight, because I remember her nearly falling out of her costume a few times on the show. I also remember Mr. Baker copping a feel during the "OH NO WE'RE FALLING OVER!" scenes. Which always cracked me up mightily. He was a pretty equal opportunity dude though, I have screen shots of him canoodling with Andred too.
Anyway, I am trying out make-up, cleaning up cat-shit and cat food feeding areas then having a shower. Still not got a shampoo that pleases me yet. Am frowny.

Date: 2010-06-04 05:59 am (UTC)my boobies wound up having a growth spurt and i'm about a 32 D which is an odd size so i mostly just wear 34 C but adjust the straps for my super narrow shoulders and rib cage. its incredibly frustrating for dresses etc. and strapless bras i have to strangle myself in a B cup to get the approriate lift (if you buy your size in strapless it flattens you as the lift from straps is gone)
when i did my padme costume from episode 2 (the leather corset dress) i had a similar problem as i am several sizes larger than Natalie Portman and so was spilling out of my corset quite a bit which was awkward as i wound up on t.v in costume and many many photo ops as the costume won me an award at the convention masquerade. I still want to reuse the skirt (and possibly the corset but maybe not as you need a second person to stitch you up) for a steampunk costume i have a feeling for. right now tho i'm doing a star trek costume. I just need to purchase the phasers and communicators (i always buy 1 MIB and 1 for use) and the tight little red dress which i found on ebay for cheap(ish) $50 USD free shipping. I don't think i could ever look as good as you did when you sang in your costume tho!
theres a site i think you should check out http://www.nerdgirlpinups.com you would be perfect for it. They've been having some problems with the site so i've been trying to apply as a model for awhile i'm pretty sure i'll be accepted from what i've heard but its damn hard to get onto! Its a GREAT site tho and i know a lot of the models, its so nice to see sexy and geekdom be one and the same! :)

Date: 2010-06-04 06:42 am (UTC)And darling, you have your own brand of gorgeous! Ivory skin and pixie features! I didn't realise how Mediterranean I look until I tried to do the Leela look. She's an English Rose, I'm not (more the wild Scot about me if anything from the area) so it's going to be up to the costume to seal the look-a-like-ness.
It's really great to talk to someone who's as into costuming as I am! :) And it's costuming that's not Anime. Anime costuming is great and all, but not my gig. :D
