I've started on the Fourth Doctor painting. It looks wonky but I'm pretty sure it's not that bad when you're standing in front of it. I think it's the perspective and the laying down of the colour that does it, cause I'm pretty sure I place that mofo centre on.

It doesn't look much like him at this point, but this is the bit where I hash everything out before laying down some colours. The hardest thing in this painting is going to be the lines in the background. Mainly cause I'm shit at lines, as you can see. And sadly, this painting is all about zooming lines.

First things first - get Tom Baker's fucking weird-ass face right. He's oddly handsome. (*I* think he's handsome, anyway). So it's going to be really tough to capture that.

Painting really is, from start to finish, a struggle. Not a bad one, it's just a lot of problem-solving and stuff, but it's not easy. It's not something you can do without taxing your head-meats. I better get back to it at any lengths.

I haven't forgotten your painting, btw. It's sitting with the blue matte base coat in my room.

No, it looks a lot like Tom Baker. His face may need to be a touch wider, but I know exactly who he is. I think the lines are darker to the left of his face, which is creating the illusion of him being off center. The center line (his nose) is smack in the middle of the canvas if I ignore the lines behind him.

Happy painting! *sigh* I wish I had time to do it again. Not that I was ever that good at portraits, but there's something so soothing bout the process, and I love the smell of the oils.

I went over and over the lines for his cheekbones, which makes it look narrowed than it actually is. When it's done, his face'll look in proportion. Hopefully. :)

It is fun. :)
