Man. News just came through - happened three minutes ago.

I grew up listening to the man. He is the tenor that every other tenor strives to be as good as. I remember watching a movie with him in it when I was a kid. I was mesmerised by his singing. Nobody has the passion he did, he just soared on every note. I can't even think right now, I'm in shock. :(

His duets with Dame Joan were just -- otherworldly. You listen to those two and you know you're hearing the pinnacle of the human voice. It doesn't get any better than that. That's the sort of thing that gets listened to hundreds of years from now.

I'll miss you, Luciano. The world is much poorer without you.

He's 11, will be 12 in Nov, and he remembers doing that too. I told him about Pavarotti's passing today. He was a little sad.
But today was his first day back to school!
He's at a new school and he really likes it. He said the teacher let them listen to the local jazz station even. He loves jazz.

Oh he likes all kinds of stuff he says. They play a wide variety of music, some older stuff, some newer stuff. He likes the instrumentals better than the ones with people singing he says :-)

I like ragtime, big band, real old school stuff. :) Well, I like any jazz, but that old stuff really gets me bouncing. As soon as I hear the Charleston I start dancing! :D

Oh I know! Charleston, swing all that bouncy jazz is good stuff. I also like that smoky bluesy jazz and like 60's beatnick jazz and the soulful women singers like Etta James and Billie Holiday.
I really like horns too. Any of those sax/trumpet players... that's good stuff right there.
