So, I buy a LaCie portable hard-drive and I copy all my mp3s onto it. That's ten years of mp3 collecting.

OR SO I THINK.

It only copied HALF of the fuckers, and the rest was deleted. I only noticed this a WEEK LATER when the files have been irretrievably deleted.

...

FUUUUUUCK!

It's ALL our music. ALL of it. The MAIN FILE. Now I have to dig around and get it all back again! It'll never be the same! God, I feel like crying! NO, I feel like pigging out on chocolate.

Another depressing thing - I'm putting on weight again. I went to the dietician and I was 65.2 kilos. I just wanted to fall into tears. That other set of scales must have been fucked. I never lost any weight - I'm still big. *sigh* Probably because all my food is sorta high GI. I'm going to talk to my dietician in three weeks and say, "Listen, dude, what do I need to cut out of my diet so that I stop getting porky?" Cause dude... SO don't want to be fat again. I mean, I've cut out all oily food. You think that would help, you know?

Sixty one. Sweet, sweet sixty one. I want to be sixty-one again! *sob*

Honey, you know I never want to be anything other than supportive of you, but what the hell is wrong with 65? I'm 62, and I WISH I could be 65!

But if you're worried: how are your carbs?

Why do you wish you could be 65? You're taller than me though, and far more graceful. I'm not THAT upset about being 65, I just hoped I'd lost some weight and now it seems I haven't, which I just don't get cause I'm sure I look slimmer!

Uhm, awful because I've had to shift my fibre intake. No more whole grain bread, no more fibrous vegetables. I'm on a bulky fibre free diet, and I take psyllium husks twice a day.

You have said it right there, darling: which I just don't get cause I'm sure I look slimmer! I'm not saying the important thing is looking slimmer, or even losing weight, but sometimes your weight moves about, and losing the weight doesn't mean that you're necessarily any healthier.

Also, I'm not that taller than you. Also also: you're beautiful, so hush.

Important: WILL I SEE YOU AT SWANCON?!

Youtube me, baby. Is that "To Sir With Love" the original or a disco'ed up version? I like raunchy, so I'm all good. :D

I'm actually attempting to write a musical with disco in it. Disco and 80s pop. I know, two totally clashing styles but the good guys are all funky and the bad guys (that I figure people will end up liking anyway) are all 80s. In the end the two styles merge a la Xanadu 40s + 80s cause, you know, that's basically what's happened with fashion anyway. It's such a girly musical, I'm not even trying to pretend it's not. LOL.

It's also a comic, so the musical would be all comic-ish. Bright colours, transitions that would be comic-like, flat lighting.

Them's the heroes. :D

Downloading music now! This is good, I'll have something to listen to while toning my artwork!

You know "Strokin'", right? I forget who it's by, it was on this disco compilation CD I bought years ago. Oh, and "Do You Wanna Get Funky?", that's another one of my favourites. A couple of songs nobody ever knows, but I figure you probably will!

Years ago, my husband and I stopped carting around CDs, and burned everything we owned onto the computer. Then, a few months ago, he backed up our mp3s on a separate hard drive. And then wiped the first hard drive. And then the second one crashed. No mp3s for us. All I have left are my Indogo Girls, which despite his recommendations, I never got rid of on CD. Oh, the pain of losing mp3s!

Good luck with the healthy weight thing. I struggle with that too. Four more pounds and I'm back to my pre-baby weight (but then I get excited about that and eat lots of ice cream, which is pretty counter-productive!).

Dude, how tall are you? 65 is so. not. fat. Also, you've been sick constantly for a long time, it is inevitable that not being able to move around as much as you may once have done will muck about with your metabolism (probably the cocktail of hormones and other drugs I expect you're on doesn't help either). It sucks, but you're not fat and it's nothing to freak out about. If you're healthy (in a nutritional sense), being 4 kilos over the weight you wish you were is nothing, you know?

If you can do more (gentle) exercise, that would be a better way to tone yourself, boost your metabolism and "stop getting porky" than cutting anything out of your diet. I know endo means you get tired very easily, and are sometimes too sore to do anything, but I hear pilates is good for that sort of thing - builds core strength, apparently. You could get yourself a video/DVD or something.

But seriously. Don't freak. You're not fat.

I know I'm not *fat* fat. I just - I liked the idea of being slim and I can see the fat creeping back. I just felt like I was taking good care of myself, I suppose. I didn't feel lazy or sick, and I know it's is completely in my head.

I'm 168cm. So yeah - not too short. :)

Hugs,
Nancy.

I have data recovery software on my portable HDD for undeleting files in Windows file systems. So long as you haven't overwritten the parts of the drive that it was saved on it seems pretty good at getting it all back.

I recently blew away every mp3 on my machine in a similar way and recovered all but 2 tracks of 6.8GB in under an hour.

If you want I could head around after work one day and see if it can recover anything for you...

I really wish you wouldn't complain about how fat you are- you're around my height, and I weigh at least 7kg more than you, often much more than that (I hit a high of 92kg around this time last year). I don't consider myself fat, but when I see you describing your much slimmer self as fat, I feel as though I should describe myself that way too...

And here I was thinking that you were celebrating that you finally managed to put some flesh on your bones. Celebrating being 65ish is kind of ambiguous. You could be celebrating not being overweight any more, or celebrating not being underweight any more.

OK, so you want to be an world famous celebrity, and underweight is kind of the new black. But when you think about it, dieting is really just a poor substitute for Photoshop the GIMP. :P

(I wouldn't want to be 65kg. I wouldn't mind losing up to 20Kg, but I'd still beat you at Sumo any day of the week.)

Oh, no no. See, I was sick for a long time and I got bigger than I'd ever been in my life and I felt absolutely miserable. I thought I'd somehow managed to go back to the weight I was when I was younger, I mean, I look thinner. I guess that's all that's important, right?

I'm worried my new diet is making me put on weight. Too high GI. :(
