The power for the laptop I'm borrowing from Kate has ceased to work. Like, the dongle, you plug it in and it only works if you push down on it. Or something. I keep wiggling and the connection keeps getting worse. My brother and my brother in law seem to think it's the socket rather than the dongle itself.

So. Yeah. All screwed. *sighs* Why can't I have nice things?

oh, and don't stress, I'm not bothered by it. the dodgy arse old desktop computer I have here is faster than it :P (and comes with network connection)

Froggy seems to think some soldering should fix it. though good luck getting the bloody case open. I undid all the screws I could find and still couldn't work out how to open it (other than brute force which would've probably broken it)

Yeah my brother is having a look and seeing what we can do. He managed to get all the stuff off. It could be fixed if we could just find a replacement thing to stick the cord into. But where the fuck do you find one of those for a seven year old lap top?! LOL!

i have an older toshiba (for spare parts) of the same sort, though unfortunately its of the two pronged power sort, rather than the one prong like that laptop is :(

ask JP - i got the laptop from him, and he appears to have access to old/broken laptops so he might have one he could give/sell you?
