YAY! I got "you know your music" too. Not too surprising, since I was actually listened to most of this stuff (though not the punk or the grunge).

Well, I listened to a touch of punk, and heaps of grunge. This is stuff any music nut knows - like me! Anyone that really loves their music anyway, cause they'll look back past the last ten years into the real gold, where people had to write good music first before they did silly things with effects and stuff. Though don't get me wrong, there's good music today, (hugs Darkness), but you know. It's a rare and beautiful thing.

I re-read one of your stories today - Butterbeer Ramblings. I still love it <3 You do such a great job with the Hogwarts-age trio, especially H and Hr. I love how you characterize them and you do such great snogging scenes too <3

LOL. Darling, snogging is my specialty.

You write snogging like you actually know how it's done :)) Tonsil hockey, anyone?? Maybe I should have YOU write the "taste" scene for my not-totally-finished ficlet that's on my LJ. I forgot to include taste in it. Dammit. Must fix that :)

I'm just simply too young to know some of that stuff. I know a bit about the days when rock was rock, but not nearly enough.

Gah for being a child of the 1980's!

Being a child of the 80s is no excuse. Look at me.

And that quiz had some very dodgy answers in my rock geek opinion.

Well, I'm getting better.

But it's taking me some time, getting over the aversion to pop culture that comes from being raised in an era known for not-so-great music, lousy hair, and bad clothes.

It was shite, it's true, but that just means you look elsewhere for the answers to the universe.

Fortunately for me, I discovered quite early on that all the answers to the universe can be found within the works of the Beatles and Dean Martin, so I was ok. ;)

Amen. Jimi Hendrix and Deep Purple and Queen helped me along too. (Aaah, Deep Purple. People don't talk about them much, but I fucking loooooove them).

I'm not big on the Deep Purple myself. I just never really got into them. I think Ian Gillan is a good reason why. :D

It does, I was unsure of a few of them and thought, "Hmm... hang on."

The White Album ISN'T CALLED THE WHITE ALBUM!

*restrains self*

I'm sorry, but if a quiz is going to get hoity-toity enough to say 'MTV Gen stay out' then they should at least get their facts straight. It's called 'The Beatles' and any rock geek worth their salt knows that.

And some other stuff I don't remember

LOL. Yeah, that point had me frowning cause I thought, "Well yes, affectionately known as the White Album, but it was called The Beatles." But can you believe for a minute I was puzzled by that question? I'll tell you why. My sister Helen had the vinyl of Sgt. Peppers that folded out, so in my head I see a big lovely folding out Sgt. Peppers and think, "Not two records... looks like two records..." Stupid huh? *shakes head*

I know what you mean. Not that stupid.

At least, not as stupid as my dad, who bought a copy of McCartney's All The Best (a double album) from a car boot sale and didn't check to see if both records were there (they weren't). He said he thought it was just a gatefold cover. Doh!

*giggles* It's okay, it's only McCartney. *laughs* I love Paul, I do, I do. He's just by far the schmuckiest.

I was a child of the 1980s. I was born in 1979, and all my youth was consumed by them. But I just love music so much that what I was being given by the media wasn't enough so I kept digging and listening and listening to what my older siblings listened to and listened to everything I could. Age has nothing to do with it.

Then just plain gah for me being ignorant.

Could I blame my parents for not allowing me exposure to anything until just recently, when I've discovered the golden era of rock for myself?
