Finally!

My computer was so cludged up and it kept fucking crashing ALL DAY. And this was bad because I had lots of things to talk about!

Melma was taken to the vet this morning for a bath and a clip, because I could. not. deal. with her flea shit issues. I worried and rubbed my eyes and tried to not think about it, because Melma's so old and it's no doubt probably very traumatic for her. But apparently she came through okay. Melma's sort of a bit out of sorts, but she's slowly coming back into herself again. I think she was just a bit messed up from being locked int he back toilet all night (I had to to keep the flies off of her) and then whisked off to the vets to be wet and soaped up and clipped and shit. But she's had two meals in one day and she's fairly happy now. Enjoying being allowed inside. She smells lovely! All soft and sweet! I'll comb her every day, I think. Keep her clean and comfortable.

The vet checked her over, and said that there's an underlying condition that is making her skinny - either her thyroid, diabetes, kidney trouble or cancer. The diagnoses would probably be quite upsetting for Mellie, and let's face it - she's fucking 20. I said to the vet lady, "I know she's not got a lot of time left. I just want her to be comfortable and to go quietly." She fully agreed.

For now she's happy, she's comfortable, she's soft and pampered. The vet techs and the vet said how funny she is. People tend to like Melma, even if she looks horrific these days. She's just so *happy* to be around people. She just sits there and purrs happily when she's being loved. It's the best thing in the world for her to be around her people. She really is one of the sweetest cats I've ever known. It's a total privilege to look after her and be her friend.

Anyway, it's been a solid week of worrying about Melma. I've done all I can, now it's time for her to enjoy her days.

She is an ancient old bony gollum of a cat, but I love her. She'll probably like the big fuss that'll continue to be made over her.

I still worry a bit about her, but it's not that OMG RED ALERT THERE MIGHT BE MAGGOTS fear that was going on before.

She's in good shape now. I was all worried about her until she bucked up today. Fought me when I went to put ointment on her eyelid, and chased after me to put food out. So she's still very fucking spritely for such an old kitty.
