I was watching the episode "The Unicorn and the Wasp" and the Doctor demands Ginger Beer.

He'll be after Jelly Babies next! :D

(spoilers possible)

Did you catch the joke as well, or is that idiom limited to UK English? In rhyming slang, "ginger beer" is the slang for "queer", which is why the waiter appears a little nonplussed when the Doctor grabs him by the lapels and shouts "ginger beer!" at him. Particularly as the waiter is non-hetero, evidenced by his relationship with the guy who dies at the dinner table. :D

No not spoilery, I've seen those episodes before. I'm doing RP and I had to refresh Ten in my mind because I've been all about Eleven recently.

I didn't know about that rhyming slang, that's wild! LOL!

I was thinking more about other readers, who could perhaps not have seen the show yet. :)

I'm trying to think of who I know that hasn't seen Doctor Who. I know a lot of geeks.

But it's great that you're thoughtful. I'm in such a tizz all the time that I'm always sticking my foot in my mouth.

Nah, it's pure selfishness. I don't download stuff that the creator hasn't made available to that method (not judging others; my morals are my morals, they don't apply to anyone but me), which means that I often get to see things well behind other people. Which means I'm always having to watch out for spoilers, so if I ever talk about the content of any media newer than about 30 years or so, I just take a second and mention it might be spoiling for someone. Pure selfishness: be the change you want (about the spoilers, I mean). :)

Damn it, LJ ate my bloody comment. Basically, I was saying "I understand, I myself don't have a problem with snatching Doctor Who off the net because it's played here on a non-commercial station anyway, and I'm a merchandise addict."

If I like something, I make sure I put *some* money towards the franchise. But I'm dirt poor so I can't afford much.

That one I get, for sure. Like I said, different folks get their different moral calculus; different factors get different weights. No criticism from me, promise. :)

*nodnod* I used to not download at all... until there was this episode of Big Bang Theory I knew wouldn't be shown in Aussie for at least 6 months and I really, really wanted to see it. (See, my love for Starbuck/Katee Sackhoff forces me to break the law :P )

Mind you, as soon as box sets of the stuff I have downloaded are available to buy, I'll buy them.
