I'd buy these for my trips to the beach...

Cause I like to explore the limestone reefs but I am SERIOUSLY paranoid about stepping on something nasty.

Are they terribly different from reef shoes? Apart from being ten times more expensive?

I don't know. When you say reef shoes, do you mean the things Gilligan wore? Those beach shoes things?

Gonsarnit! I had a big reply here, but LJ decided to eat it.

Here's one of the links that I found:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29222-i37-k879608-Just_what_are_reef_shoes-Oahu_Hawaii.html

So basically they're rubber soles with wetsuit material making up the rest of the shoe, allowing you to walk at the beach without worrying about shells or sharp stones cutting your feet.

Surf boots/mud boots/reef boots retail for about $40 for a decent pair. I just bought some for my trip to Shark Bay, having lost the pair I bought in Broome for mudding.

What size are your feet?
I've got a pair of size 9/10 (ish) SCUBA boots (a bit like http://www.diverssupplies.com.au/catalogue/product.php/6/23/27/186) that have been sitting in the cupboard for over 6 years unused that you can just have if you want them.

I've got a bag of my old SCUBA gear I was going to take up to the local dive shop and give them just to get it out of the house. I haven't used any of it in the last 6 years and it's just taking up space. Wetsuit, fins, boots, gloves (I think), possibly more stuff...

I'm gonna explode from joy here. Are you fucking serious?! I mean, the fins is what I'd also be interested in, cause I like to go snorkeling.

I'm a girl, so I don't know if the wetsuit would fit.

Serious: Yes.
Wetsuit: Only one way to find out.

What are you up to on Sunday morning / early afternoon?

Erm, probably sleeping. My sleeping pattern is pretty fucked up right now. I'm trying to fix it as we speak by not falling asleep but it's pretty tough going.

What did you have in mind?

Well... I figure I'm more easily mobile than you are so I was going to sling the bag of stuff in my car and drive over to you but the only time I'm free in the next 2 weeks is this Sunday morning / early afternoon.

I'm working every day of the long weekend and then I've got the week of the 15th March off so if you want sort out a time that week to meet up somewhere I can turn up with the gear in tow.
