This is why I hate that "What if it was your daughter?" argument. It just preserves this 'every man for himself' mindset; 'my property is mine, but everybody else's daughter is fair game. Unless their dad is my buddy.' It just reinforces the women as property thing.

I didn't mean the Lily-Rose thing like that. In my head it's - you love these women. Can't you imagine if it happened to someone you love? I'd never infer ownership. But I recognise the cultural narrative you're talking about and yeah, it's deeply problematic.

I really wonder if guys like this actually are capable of loving a female. I get really nervous when guys talk about the females in their lives in these really....unreal....overblown language. He talks about his wife in really unreal language, which at first seems charming but after a while it's like...."So does she like soccer? Have opinions? Does she speak? Or do you just worship parts of her body?" And it can start early, too, with talk about daughters. It just creeps me out when people talk about their daughters as if they're little Barbie dolls, because we all know how people are so determined to find gender differences from birth.
