afaiu racism is the (inaccurate) belief that one race is superior to others. I don't believe the skit did that.

I find it amusing that most of the "excuses" boil down to "they do it so why can't we too/they did it first"

It was racist. They were making black people into clowns. There is no if, maybe or but about it. Here's some good links:

right, so the perception is racist, not the intention (as it wouldn't have been making black people into clowns had the performers been exactly as they were minus black face makeup)

the performance in itself wasn't racist, the fact that they were performed with the black face makeup was.
