ANZAC cookies and soda
Apr. 25th, 2002 01:31 pmI woke up early today, at dawn. I couldn't go back to sleep. Mum and Dad were up and putting on their nice clothes; they were going to the ANZAC dawn ceremony in town. I didn't hear the bugle call this year, but I did hear it on the TV. It still stirs my heart, though I don't know if it's with pride or with abject fear. I think it's the latter. My nephew brought over some Monty Python, it should be just the thing to lift my spirits. I've been a little bummed, both yesterday and this morning. I have come down from my LOTR/EW high and now am sobering up to my regular reality. I am just trying to get used to that again. Azina has helped me a lot with that - God bless her.
Mum has made a whole batch of ANZAC cookies, and I've been nibbling them whilst sipping with coles cola. I'm currently banned from #theonering.net and I don't know how to get back there. I accidentally swore on there whilst I was drunk. I guess I needed a break from all the rampant fanaticism anyway. I need to put that energy to better use. I've been building my music page, and good news is that it's looking great. I just have to produce a few sample files and link them up. Yay :)
Well, I'm off to watch Life of Brian. Remember those that died to save and defend the country you live in, because even if you didn't ask them to die, and even if you do not believe in the war that they fight for, they were people dying for something the believed in, and they gave their lives for you.
"They shall not grow old
as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them
nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
We will remember them."
Lest We Forget.
