I went to an huge Egyptian collection at the art gallery when I was about 7, 8 or 9. I remember seeing these jars that they kept organs and brains in. I think my best friend and I managed to gross mum out sufficiently :D There was a sarcophagus at that one too :)

That's so exciting! I really love Boston's Museum of Fine Arts' Egyptian Collection, which is quite extensive. It has has an awesome Greek and Nubian collection. Highly recommended :-)

Aww, that's too bad! Well, if you ever get a chance to come back in the area again, try to check it out. It's a permanent (if rotating) exhibit.

That is soooo awesome I would just die to see that. They have a kick ass Egyptian display at the Royal Ontario Museum I've heard.. I wanna go see it this summer. My dad is obsessed now. He's got Tut heads and Nefertiti heads and sphynx statues, and egyptian letter openers.. basically ANYTHING egyptian. I've been collecting National Geographics for years, and the Tut one was pretty cool.

Heh. Your dad sounds like me! Except I take it a step farther and actually incorporate Egyptian dress into my wardrobe. :D I guess I look like a stupid white girl trying to be ethnic but I don't care.

Well I doubt the look would suit my dad as he's scottish, tall, dark and Sean Connery in Zardoz days.. He's also a milk man and has to wear a blue uniform most of the day, and plays hockey at night.. so Egyptian garb might not fit in there. Just wait til Halloween though lol he'll be all over it.

I know, how cool is it. I read about it in the paper last year.
I saw it in London but I'm drooling over the idea of seeing it again.

I dunno how good it will be. I saw it was on when I was in Canberra, but it was rather expensive ($25?$35? around that), and I was kinda dubious. But hey, if it looked cool in the 7:30 report, give it a look-see :-)

The (normal) Egyptian exhibit at the London Museum was _awesome_ (but then, I've already ranted about that :-)

They had some interesting stuff on the 7:30 report, though they *may* have been splicing footage of the London Museum in with it. I'll have to check it out and see what they have on display. But me? I get excited at an old box or a broken wooden sarcophagus. Anything, absolutely ANYTHING from that time fascinates me. It's all a piece of the puzzle for me. :)
