logansrogue: (It's very special!)

You combine many loves into one thing and make me actually want to buy INTO your universe again, you masochistic bastard!

- You have Tough!Xander. Which is really. Fucking. SEXY.
- Powerful!Willow. Again - I like.
- You have all this in comic form, and we all know comics are my Achilles heel.
- Did I mention Tough!Xander?
- True Love's Kiss? DON'T YOU MAKE ME HOPE AGAIN, you cruel soulless jerk!

In other news, I guess I wasn't as over Buffy as I previously thought. Or B/X. *sigh* That Buffy and Xander cover is so fucking GORGEOUS.

What is it with me and friendship ships? Oh well - I know Agatha Christie feels the same way. She's a wise one, is our Aggie.

I just can't get enthused. I think it's because, by and large, I wasn't remotely a fan of the seventh season at all, and a lot of my affection for the show got stripped away by that (and, to a lesser extent, by season six).

I hated the seventh season too, and season six, but see... Tough!Xander! Sometimes, my ovaries lead. *looks ashamed*

Following the link to all the covers for the first four issues, that is one embarrassingly pornographic cover of Willow they've painted there. (sighs)

If they re-introduce Faith, my testicles may follow your ovaries to the comic, but otherwise... eh.

Yeah, Faith would make my ovaries do a double-jig. That bitch was dead sexy. The only character I liked to femme-slash with cause - rowr.

(And what IS it about fanboys and Willow? Is it because she's meek and unthreatening or what?!)

Yeah, I think so. She's slender, red-headed and an awkward computer nerd, so lots of fanboys innately feel that they must have a good chance with a girl like her. Even after she realised she was a lesbian.

I can understand the attraction, but never felt it myself. (Nor, to be honest, for most of the female cast of Buffy. Faith, yes. Anya, maybe. Anyone else? Meh.)

OH MY GOD I KNOW I AM BURSTING WITH EXCITEMENT.

Joss always finds a way to suck me back in, every time. And I think it's so great that all the old writers will be doing the issues.

When I placed my pre-order at Quality Comic the guy said it was still over a month from coming out and they'd already received over 100 pre-orders. It looks like many people are enthused about this one :P

I doubt I'll follow this (since the last two seasons left me soooooo disenchanted. and also because Spike fan for life and he's probably not going to show because I genuinely think he and most of the "Angel" cast died. But mostly because of disenchantment) and I'm not that taken with the interior artwork. But. Those covers are SOOOOO PRETTY and that is the HOTTEST Xander I have seen in a long. LONG. TIME. Oh, lovely.

Friendship ships, btw, can be a wonderful thing (witness my X/W craze that far outlasted its use). I have spent most of my Buffy-watching time wondering when someone is going to ask me why I'm hardcore J/G and have never once looked twice at B/X. (Not that I'm inviting you to ask, b/c I don't have time to answer right now.) I've just always expected someone to wonder aloud at that and they never have so I've never gone into it. ;)

Er, well, anyway - short answer is that they'd need to tweak the characters' interactions just a TINY bit. If they had more episodes together like "Bad Eggs" I think I would've gone there - they had some good chemistry in that ep. But most of the time they felt SOOOO platonic (to me; to me only) that I couldn't do it even though they're my favourite pairing-off in a platonic "let's-do-detective-work!" way.

Yeah, Faith and Anya were the girls I thought were hot. But I'm a girl that loves brunettes of either sex. Buffy was cute but she wasn't big on brains, you know? Faith was a bad girl so that's immediate girly-hard-on territory for me. But it wasn't just that because I watched her in Tru Calling, which wasn't an amazing show, but totally worth watching her running around in tight shirts and panting.

I couldn't sit through Tru Calling - I found it just too badly written. Same went for Charmed, which my hormones would have watched just for Rose McGowan had my brain not point-blank refused to endure it.

Wow. That's... that's really huge. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting this title to hit this big.

The brain is strong in you. My loins win often-times. Numb3rs being a good example. Not a top quality show but by GOD does it have the pretty for me. And the weather. How fucking boring is the weather? But come 6:25 I am THERE, panting and howling over Natalia Cooper and her utterly awesome breasts.

Dude - I went there and they'd sold out of the new XENA comics of all things. I think Perth people are buying them to line their bird cages or something, cause how many Xena fans can there possibly BE?!

Perth does have a fairly strong sci-fi/fantasy TV fan subculture. Maybe we just really like buying up the licensed titles.

Wonder if the Galactica and Highlander comics are selling well, too?

I'm borderline with B/X. In fic I love a bit of rough-n-tumble but I forgive a lot in fic. On the show I just love their dynamic. I think it's the healthiest relationship Buffy has had with a man to date. I also love Xander's devotion to Buffy, platonic or otherwise. It's just too fucking sweet :)

I'm always impressed when I watch a completely unrelated show like 24 or Galactica, and find it's being written by a Buffy/Angel/Firefly writer. It seems like Mutant Enemy Productions really fostered a strong generation of TV writers.

I don't know. All I know is there are six comic titles I *really* want to have and I'll probably have to go to eBay to get them.

They fostered a strong style of writing, too. The angsty 'DESTROY ALL YOU BUILD = AWESOME' school of thinking is pretty prevalent too. Especially in Torchwood (which always pisses me off - I LIKE my Cap'n Jack flirty and cheesily heroic!).

Oh, me too re: Xander - the guy is the most loyal person you'd ever meet. Actually I like that about Xander the other way too - how he decides early on that he doesn't like Angel and he sticks with it. Once he makes up his mind he stays there. ;D
