logansrogue: (I love my Ruby girl)
[personal profile] logansrogue
Today on the train, a man was shaking his baby and screaming at it in a psychotic episode. People watched on in dumbstruck shock as the baby was assaulted. One woman stormed on and grabbed the baby off the crazy man, despite the fact that she had her own little girl with her and she could have been in danger. She took that baby to the police station, distraught herself from the terrible experience. The baby was taken away in an ambulance. At first the baby didn't respond to her, but after cuddling and warming, the baby started to slightly respond. She looked dehydrated and was dirty and badly clothed. By snatching the baby away, the woman probably saved its life.

The most amazing thing? The woman who saved the baby was my sister Helen.

Never have I been prouder, more inspired, more astounded than I am right now. I have so much love and admiration for her, I can't explain it. She's a woman who has suffered abuse herself, who could have easily not have done anything at all. But she just went up to that psychotic bastard and saved that baby, while everyone else just watched.

Swear to God - my sister is a fucking hero. She's shaken up, upset, traumatised by seeing a little baby go through that. I might buy her a little present for being so damned fabulous. God bless her.

Your sister truly is a hero. I hope the baby will be okay. And the man too, for that matter. He probably needs some serious help.

She walked all the way to the police station to deliver the baby, and the man was there to be taken away by the police, so I assume he walked along with her. I'm still vague on that point though.

Nephew, by the way, which is why I know this.

Kick ass and take names, Helen!! Wow... Just... Wow.

Of course she's shaken up and upset. She just witnessed something horrible and instead of just watching it, she took action. She made a difference and probably saved a life.

If only the rest of the world cared as much...

Helen is truly the best type of hero. She just went and did what was right, irregardless of whether or not her personal safety would be compromised to help that baby :-)

Bless her indeed. What a powerful story and a reminder that each one of us can make a world of difference if we only have the courage to do so. There aren't words enough to praise her and her actions, so I'll just say bravo, and trust that you fill in the gaps in my speechless awe.
