I don't like killing the micies, see? But if I use a live mouse trap - what do I do with the live mouse once I have it? Once I look into its beady little eyes, I won't be able to hurt it! :(

Set it free somewhere - and hope kitties don't get it, I guess...

yeah, that's all we've ever done....just carry the box somewhere away from your neighbors (they'll appreciate it) and open the hatch. It may take a minute for the mousey to unclench, LOL, but it will soon figure out that the door's open and run away.

That's a hard problem here cause they might take the homes of local species. :(

That's why I let my mom with stuff like that. I wouldn't be able to do that either... D:

Sorry, should have been more specific with "outside". :-) I take the mousies in the past that I've caught and release them about a mile away in a piece of woodland. Minnesota's good for that--you can't go far without tripping over trees. Don't know much about Perth, unfortunately, but a local park or pretty much any "outdoorsy" area is good for releasing the little fuzzles.

Hehe, in Broome we had feral mice and native mice, so we had to use live traps because we didn't know what we'd catch.

We only caught feral mice, then the problem was NONE of us wanted to kill it. Usually someone would surreptitiously let the mouse free in an area frequented by goshawks or snakes and we hoped they'd do the dirty work.

You feed it to your snake. If you don't have a snake, I don't know...
