Helen got to talk to Mum with a bit of persistence. It seems Johnny has pneumonia in one of his lungs. He's been in a worse pickle before but he's stressing out because his Mum (My sister) isn't there to calm him down or keep him company. I don't think he's ever been in Sir Charles Gardner hospital before. He's used to the gentle treatment at Princess Margarets.

The fuckers RIPPED HIS EARLOBE clear from his fucking head when putting on some kind of glowy-monitor thing. It took Helen to notice it. He can't talk. He can't let them know he's in pain other than crying and being freaked out. That poor little fucker. I hate those bastards. How could they be so fucking careless?

I'm going nuts trying to find my sister. She's staying in Quinninup. Or some place AROUND Quinninup. They're out of mobile phone range, anyway. Stupid fucking mobile network. What shit. We've been calling places IN Quinninup. Man. I hate phoning people.

Anyway. I've gone from freaked out and scared and stressed to annoyed and pissed off and stressed. Which I prefer cause it's far more familiar to me. And I don't feel quite so helpless. I could probably get some sleep now. I'm still really fucking keyed up, though. SO tempted to take half an Ativan. Oh. Can't FIND the Ativan. My mother hid it. Good job, Mum. It's got Lorazepam in it. It's a benzodiazepine. Fuck. Want nerves gone. Will drink calmative tea. That's good shit. It's got everything in it. EVERYTHING!

It has:

Peppermint
Passion flower
Strawberry leaf
Chamomile
Valerian
Catnip
Scullcap

It's like the valium of the herbal tea world, man. Yeah. *nods* Gonna brew me up one of those, I think.

Oh my GOD! Those assholes at the hospital should so be sued for that because there is NO need whatsoever to treat a patient like that (especially one that cannot articulate what is happening to him/her). Poor Johnny :-( I hope that somebody will be able to reach your sister soon and let her know what's going on.

That tea sounds most lovely and calming, by the way.

Yes. It has honey and lemon and all spice and port. If I were going for comic effect, I would have said: It has honey and lemon and all spice and vodka. But I'm not like that. It was just a splash of port like my Mummy always puts into my drink.

Yes, indeed poor Johnny. But we don't have money for lawyers. :(

Ah sweetie I'm sorry you've had a stressful night. It's hard when you feel helpless when someone you love is in trouble or suffering.

I was at work last night, and will be tonight and tomorrow night. Please give the ED staff a little slack - we've all had a horrendous night across the city. I don't remember half the patients I saw, and certainly don't remember names. Sometimes it's an unfortunate blur of doing the immediate life-savingy bits, and literally no time for niceties. Like none. Like having a grand total of 10 seconds to appraise a situation and act, and give some orders, then move on. Things like saying hi just have to go by the wayside.
Very few people in health are deliberately mean or rough, but we're all stretched so damn thin, especially on Friday nights.

It's the earlobe rip that gets me, Karen. I understand them being busy, I get that. It's ripping a kid's goddamned earlobe that shits me. :(

Poor Johnny. I know Cati and Rolf deserve time away but this isn't good. Johnny needs them right now, they should have left more contact details or something.

It's okay. His actual earlobe wasn't ripped. The seam was just - you know when you leave a part of your body wet and it gets red and scratchy? That happened. Badly.

It wasn't a rip, it was a cut. But it was bad.

Still - you'd think they would notice/ know what they were doing enough to not hurt him.

I understand - we have a crap ER at our local hospital. The doctor was an arrogant prick who wouldn't do anything for my father, and the nurse handed me a urine can for him to go and left. Like I'm going to hold it for him? I went right back to her and told her that he needs help.

It was a horrible experience, so I can imagine what it was like.
