Photo post!
Dec. 22nd, 2005 08:15 pmHey everyone! I have some photos I want to share with you!

First - our Christmas Tree. Isn't it gorgeous?! Well, I think it is. I put the slivers of shiny stuff all over it. The fake ice or snow or whatever the hell it's supposed to be. My brother Scotty made the angel. Here's a close up!

COOL, HUH?! *grins*

This is a couple of cactii in our kitchen. Before you make the predictable phallic joke, it's intentional. My sister got it for Mum and Dad to commemorate him getting a ball removed. Anyway, they like it in the kitchen and are growing well. Soon, a little friend moved in between them, building up her pretty lacy home. You can see it in the picture! Now, if you're scared of spiders, watch out.

Everyone, meet Mary. She's quite contrary in her pretty cactus home. At first she cared me, but one time I went to look at her and she turned around in her web and looked *straight at me*. Something passed between us in that moment cause I got the chills, not of fright, but that this little creature knew I was looking at it, and I knew she was looking at me. Ever since then I've kinda fallen in love with her. I know, ridiculous - I HATE SPIDERS! But I love this spider. In fact I'm getting more tolerant of spiders all round since Mary. I wouldn't like them on me and I still scream if I run into a web, and I get the heebie jeebies "Have I got a SPIDER ON ME?!" thing after looking at pictures, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.
I'm telling you, for a window/house spider, she's almost flambouyant! Seriously! She comes out of her little hidey hole quite often and walks about her web. These spiders are supposed to be very reclusive. She has her times of day when she comes out and has a wander. I like to sing to her when she does that, and I blow on her web gently, just to let her know that I know she's there. I've had to save her from fly spray and people wanting to get rid of her so many times. She's about two centimetres across, leg-span wise. She's so cool!
I mean, how many goths would wet their pants at the concept? A glossy black spider living in a pair of cactii!! TOO COOL! Anyway, I've blathered on about my spider friend for long enough.

This is only really funny if you've seen Black Books.

Date: 2005-12-22 07:55 pm (UTC)The spider's very cool. I once got very attached to a large huntsman (should that be huntswoman?) that lived in my parents' place. We called her Mathilda.
