Dame Joan Sutherland dies at 83

I remember when my Mum used to listen to her Duets album with Pavarotti. A better pair of Tenor and Soprano you could not find. But don't take my word for it:

She shone as a singer unequalled. Her voice was like a bell, and soared away like a floating feather on the breeze. Nothing compared to her Casta Diva:

Mum and I just spend about half an hour listening to her together, talking about how good she was. She is the one woman that makes me wish I could sing opera. Her voice reminds me of days where Mum would crank the music and potter around in the kitchen, and I would be drawing or playing with my siblings. And always, always there would be a moment where Sutherland's voice would make me stop what I'm doing, and just gaze out the window. I had to look outside, at the trees and the sky, whatever the weather, because her voice was like a bird and upon the back of it, my mind soared into the distance out that window.

Dearest Dame Joan, I shall miss you dearly. The world has lost a jewel today, one we cannot replace. <3

She's currently watching all of the episodes of Torchwood. Like, one after the other, for days. She's such a fangirl. :)

This is the same woman that watched the Hartnell episodes back in the 60s, never missed a one. :D I think this is proof not all Old Who fans are crotchetty, grumpy jerks telling you to get off their lawn.
