OH MY GOD. HOW AWESOME WAS IRENE ADLER? SHE MADE THE MOVIE IRENE ADLER LOOK LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS. SHE WAS SO. FUCKING. AWESOME!!

And the romance between her and Sherlock? PITCH PERFECT. PITCH. FUCKING PERFECT. That's how it's done, yo. THAT IS HOW IT'S DONE. Subtle, seductive, romantic, simple, sweet, TRAGIC and PLAYFUL. And sentimental!!

I'm figuring the slash fans will be pissed. I thought Watson and Sherlock's chemistry was kept intact and maintained, and a fair amount of gay relationship jokes made, but I don't know how satisfactory that'llbe, considering my love of the show doesn't hinge on it. I like a little bit of everything!

Also? Please, Sir, lock me up with Irene Adler for the night. I've been ever so naughty! *giggle*

I'm a serious slash fan, and I was *thrilled.* The bit where she congratulated Watson on not messing up his face, because she'd 'love it too?' Brilliant. The way that Holmes passive-aggressively takes John's latest girlfriend to bits, and then even John can't keep her straight from the previous one? So marvelous. Holmes, with a gun on the American that attacked Mrs. Hudson, commanding John to take care of the lady, and John asks if he'll be getting details on what's going on later (knowing that he might not) and Holmes saying "I expect so" and taking his eyes off of the attacker to meet Watson's glance? Yes, yes, yes.

(I honestly really read John as bi-for-Holmes, and Holmes as pretty much asexual except in spectacular cases, of which plainly Irene would be one. Just like John is.)

From what I've read, a lot of people are pissed about Irene Adler because she is so far removed from canon and they can't believe they turned her into a prostitute.

Huh. Well, I don't see anything shameful about being a prostitute (especially since she seems to enjoy dominating people so much) but I can understand if her personality is nothing like canon. I've not read the books, but I think I really should.

Given the social stigmas surrounding her original career (actress), I think that dominatrix is an excellent choice for a modern "scandalous and yet respectable in certain circles" career.
