So I totally caught the Minecraft bug.
Jun. 21st, 2011 05:35 amWhat's Minecraft some of you may ask? The premise is fairly simple:
You are a little person (man is default, grr). You wander through the wilderness, and it is your job to survive. You subsist off of the land - you cut down trees to make tools, mine the ground and caverns for materials and gems, and with the blocks you collect, yu can build shit. EPIC SHIT. I play on the "Peaceful" mode because I don't enjoy zombies jumping out at me, but you can play it easy or play it "OMG ARMA-FUCKING-GEDDON!", whichever suits your style.
The biggest time-waster that people get sucked into in Minecraft is building shit. I love building shit. It's basically the bastard offspring of BOULDER DASH and a box of Legos.
So. The things I built? Just come mosey on under the cut. You want to, you really do.
Before any of you ask, the skin I'm using is one of my own creation. I call it "Baranduin". It's basically Minecraft faithful, with subtle little improvements here and there. I didn't want to change too much because as Garth says, "We fear change."

That's the view on the sandy ismuth below my house. That little crucifix-shaped pond there was totally there when I found this spot. I put some torches there and I use it as my centre-point for the world.

I decided I wanted to house my Obsidian Gate in something nice. Like an Egypt-styled temple!

The temple during sunrise.

Another angle.

The library in the basement of the temple.

The steps up to the ground level of the temple.

Another view of the library.

Now to a new basement. MY basement, to my little cottage.

That's the ladder back up to ground level. All the art in my skin is by me.

The inside of my cottage.

Ok, so one day I decided to make a pond in front of the giant tree I made. I went back to my cottage to put some stuff away, but I had a bucket of water selected, and when I right-clicked, I didn't right-click on my treasure chest. I right-clicked on the floor. And suddenly my cottage had an indoor pool!

Aerial view of the temple. It took me a day to build, but I was learning at the time.

The view from my giant tree. You can see my cottage and my floating island. I made most of the floating island BEFORE getting the flying cheat and before I knew about the "SHIFT = creep" thing. HOLY SHIT I FELL DOWN A LOT.

I begin the TARDIS in a new world.

Nearly done.

Completed.

From the ground up.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT?

THAT AWESOME.

Zoomed out a bit. Yeah, I'm good.

This has nothing to do with me, but:

While exploring a new world (surveying it for my Egyptian themed builds) I found this in a cavern. Waterfall and Lavafall right next to each other. At the bottom? Spilling out either way. Fucking awesome.
If any of you want a schematic file of the TARDIS (if you use MineEdit) then lemme know and I'll line it up for y'all. I'm making a control room inside. Since I can't get it looking exactly like the show due to limitations to what you can build in the given space (unfortunately my TARDIS isn't bigger on the inside) I am approximating it and making it a sort of melange of all the different control rooms, as it were. <3

Date: 2011-06-21 12:10 am (UTC)I used to play tons of old Nintendo/NES. I haven't done it much in the last year because I've been so busy and started writing again. Maybe now that I'm working less hours, I can add video games to my life once more. ;)
