Johnny Update

Just got word from Mum.

He's definitely on his way out. His lungs are shutting down. He's heavily sedated, sleeping. He'll be gone by tonight or tomorrow. The family is coming together. It's going to be so weird without our little Johnny friend. :(

I'm going to be doing a post about Johnny tomorrow. About what he meant to me, and how he changed my life and spirit so irreverseably, so wonderfully. He's been such a blessing. It's why were all so heartbroken to have to let him go. We loved him so, so much. He was our sunshine, our delight. He helped us access that pure, joyful part of our hearts, and when we were with him, we were never self-conscious or anything. We gave him all our love and all our fun and excitement. He taught us how to get joy from every little bloody thing in life.

He's been sick on and off this year, each time it was more serious that the last. So this has been on the horizon for some time. Still, doesn't make it any bloody easier.

It's incredibly sad to watch someone dying, knowing they're not going to come out of it, and unable to do anything to hasten the end to make their life a little less painful. I've done it a few times. I'm sorry.
