All the little wide-eyed ingenues trying the quirky indie thing with the weird voice? It's so thirty years ago, honey.

It was also done WAY BETTER than anyone's managed today. What a brilliant song!

Dunno what made me think of you today - I think I was having some wanderlust, as I often do, and fantasized about moving far away for a while. I can do my work anywhere I can get 'Net, y'see.

Anyway, on a whim, I had a look at exactly *how* far it is. I've been to Thailand, so I've some vague sense of the ginormousness of the Pacific.

As it turns out? The place on dry earth which is as close as one can get to exactly opposite my apartment? Is about a hundred kilometres from you.

Now, the place on the water where that spot is is way the fcuk out in the middle of the Indian Ocean. But the closest land spot is not far from Perth. :D

(the reverse seems to land up somewhere near Bermuda, which made it clear for me how far the fcuk out in the ocean it is, because Bermuda's a couple of thousand km from here)

How awesome! You can say that you've literally got friends ALL around the globe! :D Perth is a very pretty spot. The real estate is expensive up the wazoo, but the weather and the beaches are perfect. :)

It's so sad about the real estate prices. I remember coveting a little duplex-half (in a semi-dodgy area, but it had a little bit of un-built-on land and was really cute) for 129k 5 years ago, and it's about 350k now :(

It's fucking shocking, isn't it? :( This is why I live with Mum and Dad. I have *no* hope of ever finding a place on my own on a disability pension.

Sonia and I are in the same boat - two of us on one income? Never going to happen.

Sounds like Toronto. Outrageous, the prices there. I could never afford to live there now, at least not before I become a Rich and Famous Author. Which I'm sure is gonna happen...now.

No...now.

How 'bout...now?

Aw piss. Best go do some actual writing, I suppose, if I want it to happen. :)

Whenever I drive through Claremont (where I live) and surrounding areas, I see all the old cottages and Colonial style housing and I think, "One little house. That's all I want. Maybe if I get that book published and it takes off. Maybe, just maybe!"

Glad to know I'm not the only one that dreams like that!

It's not a dream! No! No! It's gonna be reality! Really!

Just as soon as I get off my arse and do some actual writing. Really.

Believe me yet? :)

Same here. My book will happen. It just takes time to do a Tolkien. (As in, build an entire world. No elves or anything).
