I think having really really clucky days is pretty normal, for a lot of girls (and maybe guys, I dunno).

I dread the thought of having a ranga baby though (my father's side has a lot of rangas, as well as obviously my current boyfriend). This is what I think to put myself off anyway. :P

My understanding is that it's because people from places where redheads were plentiful (the British Isles) have migrated other places, and with hundreds of years of intermarrying with people from places where redheads are not common, the gene is dying out.

That said, I have auburn hair. I don't think my son got it though. That's what I get for breeding with a Native American. :p

Just FYI the gene for red hair isn't dying out. That's an urban myth. It's kind of a pet hate of mine 'cause I'm a ranga and people always seem to feel the need to tell me I'm a 'dying breed'. The original claim comes from a study done on mice back before we understood about recessive genes. We STILL don't fully understand this stuff. We don't, for example, know why some guys have dark hair on their heads but red beards.

Just read the article you linked to wondering if the one I read was wrong, but it sounds a bit dodgy. Just anecdotally, two non-red haired people can have a red haired baby out of the blue when there hasn't been one in either family for a couple of generations so that suggests it can...um...hide. Very scientific, but you know what I mean. Neither of my biological parents had red hair, but mine was carroty red when I was born (not so much now, more strawberry blonde- actually lately I kinda have Gabrielle hair). My daughter doesn't seem to have inherited it. So far she's blonde (though so was her dad and now he's a brunette except for the red beard, so who knows?).

I know what you mean by "hiding". Neither of my parents had auburn hair (reddish brown), but I do. Both of my grandmothers had auburn hair, so I'm sure I inherited it from then.

It's my understanding that because it is recessive, it can "hide" as you said, but if both parents inherited a recessive gene then they can have a redhead, like you. Of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, just confirming that I've heard of it before. None of the other men in my family have a red beard, but I'm sure my cousin inherited it from our grandmother.

I've noticed red headed children are always the cutest things you could ever see OR ugly as home made sin. LOL! Actually my girlfriend from high school is redheaded and oh boy. She is probably one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen! She also had cork screw curls (I mean naturally, she didn't do that to her hair, lol). So yeah.

ROFL! I never minded the thought of accidentally getting pregnant. Unfortunately, with my uterine problems, I don't know if it'd be that easy for me. :( But one day, man, one day! And it won't be an accident!

That sucks. I have PCO, which makes it hard to get pregnant when you're older (that starts late twenties to early thirties - and I am thirty), but easier to get pregnant when you're younger (which is probably why I got knocked up at eighteen a month after I stopped taking bc.) O.o OH WELL he was a wonderful mistake! My son, I mean. His father is a jerkface. :p

At any rate yeah I worry if I will ever have the opportunity (no plans with the current husband as you can imagine!) and if I do have the opportunity, if my PCO will allow it.

In the meantime however, you also have a very cool cat. Babies are great, don't get me wrong. I love mine, but bloody hell it's hard work! Not meaning that you couldn't handle that, just that you never truly appreciate the ammount of free time you have before you have kids. I thought I was busy before, now I'm like, what the Hell was I busy with? Sorry, this is rambling and off topic.
