I bought myself a monofin, so I can learn to swim like a mermaid. *nods* I am officially obsessed.

And I bought my Dad the best Christmas present ever - expensive, beautiful snorkel set for dirt cheap off of eBay. Am I the best daughter ever or what?!

I think you officially win at life for trying to learn to swim like a mermaid. That was basically my life goal for YEARS before I gave up.

I grew up on the water but in the last five years, I've barely been able to get into it. A monofin is just awesome and I'd love to pick up a pair and learn as well. There's a company that makes and sells real merfolk tails that work in water. I'd love to get a pair of those as well but I'd never use it. I'm just a bit too shy to do something like that. Still, it would be hell of a lot of fun.

At some point I'm going to make a neoprene tail, but first I'll make a textile tail that'll go over this monofin.

Which company are you talking about? I've looked at most of their websites! LOL! The grand goal is to make a durable tail that looks realistic.

Why can't you get into the water? No time? No beach or pool to speak of?

I don't live near the beach but it is more the fact I've been too busy with other things in my life to get out to swim in a very long time.

Man, I couldn't stand living away from the beach! I need that afternoon sea breeze, the smell of the limestone and the sea in the air on a hot summer's night! And when it's stormy, the angry waves in the distance!
