logansrogueI realised I knew a couple of neat little home-made beauty recipes that are great for the summer (or winter!) and are easy to do, and not too bad for your skin. I mean, they worked for me, but if you have a chronic skin condition, you might not want to stuff with these.
Oat & Honey Face Mask:
My sister introduced this one to me. You get one big teaspoon of honey, and mix it with fine oatmeal until you have a sort of paste. The fibre husks should provide some light and gentle exfoliation. Leave it on your face for three to five minutes or so, then rinse off with warm water.
If it drips into your mouth, it's totally okay, cause it tastes awesome.
Sea Salt & Oil foot scrub:
Get some sea salt/cooking salt (big crystals) and either baby oil or olive oil. You can add a drop of essential oil if you want your feet to smell nice afterwards. Mix it together till you get a sort of cruncy, sloshy mixture. You want to have a fair amount of oil in there.
Now scrub the feet with the oil and salt, GENTLY. Rinse away with a gentle soap, and you'll be surprised to feel how soft the skin is afterwards. No, this is no miracle. It's a trick - the sudden contrast of crunchy salt to ultra-slippery oil and then clean soapy water makes the skin think it's walking on clouds. But it's a *lovely* sensation and the skin feels better for being in the oil afterwards.
I learnt this trick after seeing some of this stuff in a tub for 60 bucks at the local Royal Show (county fair). They had eucalypt oil and emu oil and sea salt and all this shit in it. I went home and tried it with olive oil and chunky sea salt and it did THE SAME DAMNED THING YO.
So, I pass my little tricks onto you, my friends of the internets. Mens, don't be afraid to try this shit. Your bodies need pampering too!
