I don't actually read Feministing at all - I've seen people mention it in the past (although mostly in a negative light, like this post) so I guess I've kind of avoided it although not really consciously. I went and read the post you linked to because I was curious and now I'm just fucking outraged. And really weary, as well; I don't understand why feminists think it's okay to use the same damn arguments that are used to silence them in order to shut down discussions about what they are doing that's problematic. Seeing someone use "I don't like your tone" or "how can I be expected to know what will offend you?" to avoid checking their own privilege on a feminist community is seriously horrifying.

I know, right? I saw the line about tone and I was going to say, "Oh honey, you did NOT just use the tone argument HERE!" but the comments were shut down. Which is a good thing cause I would have handed some fucker their arse.

It's times like this I'm SO thankful for having a place like Shakesville. Feministe too, is a place that tends to make improvements and work on shit. They actually care, which is more than I can say for Feministing right now.
