This is the same guy who, twenty years ago, was in a band that sang songs about left-wing politics and conservation and protested the Government's actions.
I get the very strong impression that Garrett made the choice quite a while ago between sticking 100% to his principles or to voluntarily compromise many of them in the hope of making practical changes in some positive directions.
