Merlin. I know, I know, it's a silly show. But I love it. I don't know why. It's magical, it's not reality TV, it has Anthony Stewart "Scrummy-pants" Head in it, there's a dragon sometimes and Arthur is hot. And oh, it's not Crime TV. I love things when they're not CrimeTV!!

SO! Which way to the Merlin/Arthur porn?

This is airing as summer filler in Canada... but the name reminds me FAR TOO MUCH of Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders and that scares me off.

Dude. Last episode I saw, Anthony Stewart Head was fighting the Black Knight. With a sword and shit. He was all done up in maille and armour and I have to admit - it was fucking hot.

13. I'm not linking you to the wiki page because it's slightly spoilery. The titles of episodes are:

1 "The Dragon's Call"
2 "Valiant"
3 "The Mark of Nimueh"
4 "The Poisoned Chalice"
5 "Lancelot"
6 "A Remedy to Cure All Ills"
7 "The Gates of Avalon"
8 "The Beginning of the End"
9 "Excalibur"
10 "The Moment of Truth"
11 "The Labyrinth of Gedref"
12 "To Kill the King"
13 "Le Morte d'Arthur"

Enjoy!

My housemate writes Merlin fanfic but is sadly an exclusively canon shipper (we had R/Hr v H/Hr debates until I got bored with her not accepting any of my arguments) so only writes Arthur/Gwen. I think she's missing out. Arthur/Merlin is practically canon! :)

Tony Head is in it? Aw, damn, I totally skipped out on the mini-marathon on NBC last night while Dan was out at the movies because I was like "I hate coming in midway through, no point, nothing to hold my interest". But if I'd known he was in it I might've kept watching and at least picked up a bit of what was going on.

Oh well, I suppose I can probably rent it eventually. Hm. I've got an ongoing list of "maternity leave" things to rent and watch - mostly if they are things I can watch without putting a lot of concentration into in the middle of the night (I was well acquainted with the Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien last time, but now they are the same thing, so I'm not sure WHAT I'll watch if it's not 11:35-12:35) - and it's getting longer and longer... "Buffy" season 5, "Angel" season 2 are lower on the list but first comes "Moonlighting" season 3! ♥ I haven't watched any "Moonlighting" since Dorothy started daycare!

It is heaps of fun as a show. Nothing too upsetting so I don't get triggered watching it. It's like comfort soup. I'm so glad that the Arthurian Myths are getting an entire series of their own, it's about fucking time! :D

Arthurian legend has been ripped off or "referenced" in so many different shows that yes, it's definitely finally getting its due in its own show.

I have a low opinion of a lot of TV these days though so I'll have to see if I actually like it. ;)

I have a low opinion too. I'm delighted because it's just so damned elemental, if that makes sense. There's no twist, there's no "Ooh, this traditional thing subverted or put in a different setting." It's straight up mythology, and I haven't seen that sort of thing since Xena's days. Or when Sci-fi was allowed to be on tv, unfettered.

The actors in it are also really damned good. The kid playing Merlin is absolutely adorable. He has this innocent smile and good heart. I'm so tired of antiheroes, you know, it's so nice just to have a good, sweet character as the unspoken hero. (Cause technically, Arthur is the hero but it's brainy, magic Merlin that's the star). He doesn't get aggressive or angry. He's just sweet and caring and really damned likeable!

They have an awesome site. Oh, Richard Wilson is Gaius (brilliant fucking actor) and JOHN FREAKIN HURT is the voice of the Dragon. Plus there's some people who worked on Doctor Who that are working on this. An Exec producer or something. They call it "Three generation television". Which I'm all for, I miss that sort of show.

I've raved enough, I think! LOL! Oh, and Merlin looks SO MUCH LIKE MY NEPHEW.

He's absolutely wonderful in this. It's on the BBC so if you have any access to BBC programming where you are, that's where you'll find it. It's a really fabulous show, just darling!

Merlin, as in the miniseries with Helena Bonham-Carter as Queen Mab? Or is this something new?

It's such an adorable show! How can you not love something with a talking dragon and neckerchief-laden pretty boys? It's not high drama, but it's so much fun.<333
