There was meaning behind the macho cablooey. It made me warm in my heart cockles. Plus Robert Downey Jr. and Gwynth Goopie Paltrow had some SERIOUS chemistry going on! HOT DAMN!

I got really far into the movie and thought "I think I would absolutely fall in love with this movie if it ends without them kissing." But I figured, "Come on, what's the likelihood of THAT?" AND IT DID because it's AWESOME! Maintain that sexual tension as long as you can guys!

Oh yeah, apparently it ties into "The Incredible Hulk" very slightly and Tony Stark has a small cameo in that - just enough to establish that they take place in the same universe. Then eventually they're going to all come together to do the Avengers movie or something. Hm. Ambitious. ;)

Love me some Jon Favreau I tell you that much. Anyone who can use Gwyneth Paltrow that well gets kind words from me.

I know! I usually can't stand her but she was absolutely charming and awesome in this movie! I loved her! That's a new experience for me! I haven't really enjoyed her work since, shit, Emma I think. I just always found her smug and irritating. But she keyed it back so much in this, she really slipped into the role and worked. There's this tenderness to Pepper that she brought, but a steely self-preservation. I love how they used the character in this movie. I love it! It's been so long since there's been a strong female character like that in a comic flick. Who's not a prize, but a partner in crime. A needed member of a team, a vital addition to working unit. It makes me walk away from a movie with "FUCK YEAH!" singing in my blood. That's the mark of a GOOD comic movie. When I walk away feeling empowered by my womanhood, not excluded.

I haven't been so satisfied by a comic book film in a long LONG time. I need to see it again and possibly buy it. And I want to do Jeff Bridges, bald or not. (That may be residual from "The Big Lebowski", I'm not sure. Of course in that he was even less sexually appealing if possible but I still want to do him. I'm starting to suspect it's all displaced Lir attraction.)

Also, this movie put the definitive "Robert Downey Jr. can do no wrong no matter what movie he's in" cap on my growing affection for him. I was like 98% there after seeing "A Scanner Darkly", and this jolted me up to about 150%. *G* Possibly the only actor to have spent *years* in rehab and not only continue his career but actually remain incredibly talented... even WHILE he's recovering. Wow!

Isn't he brilliant? He's one of the most talented actors of our time, hands down. He's just got so much conviction in a role. That role of Tony Stark could have so easily been offensive or irritating, but he underplayed it with this soft-eyed vulnerability. I don't know how it worked, but it worked. He reminded me of Kevin a bit in the role. The same arrogant prick with a soft side as Ares. Didn't think I'd see that trick in anyone again. I thoroughly loved the film. I didn't think people could make comic book movies like that anymore - with heart. With meaning. God damn. It was so awesome.
