So my old neighbourhood that I built so beautifully? With Harry and Hermione and the Doctor and Martha and everyone? Yeah, the really cool one? It stopped working for me. Maybe it was too full or something, but it up and died on me. I was bereft for many months and didn't bother playing the game again.

This week I decided to make a new start in Desiderata and have done so. I put in Nina Hagen, I put in myself, I put in Gabrielle, Joxer, Xena and Ares and I put in the Doctor. I thought I'd mix it up and try to get into the Doctor's pants, even setting my Sim's attraction traits to glasses and custom hair (which is what my Doctor Sim has).

I've not been able to run into the Doctor yet, most annoyingly. And Ares is going to end up with Xena.

Or so I thought. My Sim is at the nightclub, she's talking to Ares there's double lightning bolt in his little head thing in the relations bar. Even though he doesn't specificially fit the attractors I defined. And I'm thinking, "Fuck it, I"ll marry Ares again and the Doctor can be my toyboy on the side."

*sigh* I'm so utterly predictable!

I haven't tried to install the Sims yet. Don't know if my old Sims 1 will run on my new Vista laptop...if not I'll buy the Sims 2, but I don't want them to die!

...That, and I just realized I have to make everyone again too. Fuck. Sim!Me had just met Sim!Jafar and was concocting an epic plot to get huge amounts of body skill, marry Jafar, attack his other wife and throw her out!

Sims 2 is REALLY COOL. It really adds a dimension of interaction with the Sims, and they can have hobbies and businesses, they can go to the club and bars and go on holiday, have Christmas, have a reputation, all this really cool stuff! There's no reason why you couldn't have both. I mean, Sims 3 is coming and I'm skeptical of it but I'm going to have a shot at it anyway to see if there's any fun to be had. Doesn't mean I need to stop playing my current Sims 2 neighbourhood. :)

Well, I don't know if 1 will even work on my new laptop. One of my games didn't. If it does work I may get 2 anyway, but if it doesn't work I'll get 2 to replace it.

...And then promptly use aging-off so that they DON'T EFFING DIE. Some of the Sims I make are my favorite characters and I'd either want to remake them when they died, or not let them die at all.

(At least there's still Politics Career, so when I make Sim Jafar I have someplace to put him.)

Yeah I just turn aging off. It's a pain in the arse - I'd like to decide when I stop playing with a character, *thank* you!

That's why I liked Sims 2 for PS2 (never had it for a PC, just a PS2)--there were some of the cool features like aspirations and better customization, without the uncool feature of aging and natural death. Plus a crazy-fun story mode. My Sim got to live on a boat!

When I first got Sims 2, I made a Sim!Drhoz and a Sim!Desire... and Sim!Drhoz mark 1 refused to do anything I asked him to do and kept going and reading books (art imitating life!). So I killed him and made Sim!Drhoz mark 2, who was much more compliant.

LOL! I just use my lovely cheat items that help me tweak the personality modifiers so that the Sims are more like the characters that they're based off.

Did you have it set to that the Sim did what it wanted to? Cause you can fuck with that in options.

No, I had it to follow instructions... but sometimes they do want they feel is the right thing to make them happy anyway.

I find the unexpected autonomy kind of cute. I mean, I know it's just objects having autonomy values so it attracts the Sims to it, but in my anthropomorphising sentimental mind I like to think that the character wanted to do it. Even though I know it's just a bundle of conflicting programming commands.
