Well, it was fun, but I hated Christina. Total twattish Mary-Sue. God damn it, I miss Donna and Martha. :( Rose is a Romana compared to this 'cat-burglar' bitch. There was just nothing to her. She said all the 'right' things to be a companion but she had absolutely no substance. The Doctor's "No, don't want to take you with me, you'll get hurt" speech hung entirely hollow, cause he really didn't seem that bothered whether she came with him or not. No chemistry at all. And I'm not just talking romantic. Christina is just a total non-character. What a waste of a special. *sigh*.

If I put a mood in, it'd be irritated. I didn't want to be spoilery.

From the moment of the opening and the top popping off the dome like a hard boiled egg ,I was less than pleased with her.By the end, I wanted her to fall under a bus.

Preferably one that *didn't* fly.

I enjoyed the special a lot on the whole, but the scripting for Christina was dreadful - and this is sad because I really like Michelle Ryan as an actor and would have dearly loved to have seen her as a companion with better scripting.

See, I was all, "YAY! A brunette!" I know Martha's a brunette but you know, I thought I might be able to relate to Christina, but I didn't in the slightest. It would have been way cooler if she'd been dirt poor and a nobody and turned into an amazing thief. Having her be rich and a thief means she's a spoilt bitch who has no sense of what's hers and what's not hers. I loathe dishonesty. So glad I don't have to put up with a season of that horrible woman. Guh!

I was really pleased when the Doctor told her to fuck off at the end.

Yeah, I was all, "SUCK IT, CUNT!" I called her 'cunt' a lot. You don't want to know what I said when she kissed him. And I don't care when people usually kiss him. But her... oh I was like, ... RAH.

Completely agree with you about Christina. Honestly. If I get another "feisty" heroine I shall kick something.

That's why I liked Donna so much. She was bull-headed and strong-spirited, but she wasn't full of herself. She was beautiful in a regular, relatable way. She was so fucking warm and hilarious and wonderful and she just had no freakin' clue how awesome she was. I love that when a character isn't strutting about like a peacock, when they are just so well written they bounce out of the screen like a person walking out of a door.

It's too bad about Christina because so much of the rest of the special was so good and so much fun. Usually RTD writes pretty good one-off characters, too.

I hated her with the fire of a thousand fiery suns. But I liked the rest of the episode. ARGH. I WON'T SURVIVE THE NEXT SPECIAL!
