Okay, so, things Mirena has done FOR me:
- No period.
- ...
- No really, that's it.
Things Mirena has put me through:
- The three week period of pain and hell
- Various pokey pains at unexpected times that are as bad or worse than endo pain
- Pimples
- Weight gain
- Depression
- Periods of time where I feel I'm constantly PMS-y.
- Always hungry, terribly terribly hungry.
If this shit doesn't improve in the next two months, I am having it out. This is bullshit. I'm putting on WEIGHT, damn it! And I STILL HAVE THE ENDO PAIN. It's bad as, if not worse than before I had the Mirena put in! I'm at my wits end, I really really am! I'm sick of the health department screwing me around and I know that now Liberal has been voted in, it's going to get fucking worse!! (THANK YOU, WA VOTERS, THANKS A FUCKING LOT).
I'm on codeine again. One before bed. I have to go out today and deal with Centrelink. They want me to go on the disability pension, I think. But I'm *not* disabled, I'm just stuck in the Public Health Care Purgatory!
So glad my boyfriend will be there. I'll have big manly muscle-bound cuddles to sooth me after dealing with these fucking assholes.

God, I sound like an ad for a pharmaceutical company...
Date: 2008-09-22 04:49 am (UTC)What you're going through sounds truly awful, and I certainly think you've given the Mirena long enough to justify giving up on it if it is still making you this miserable. Yuck.
Your endo is a lot more severe than mine, I think, but has your doctor ever suggested a medication called Primolut N? I am on that now to stop my periods completely, because that gets rid of most of my pain. I haven't really had any negative side-effects, which is the really significant bit (I have really bad depressive reactions to most of the BCPs I've been on, and I get pretty severe depressive PMS when I allow my body to menstruate, too). It's not technically a BCP, it's a treatment specifically for endo and other "menstrual disorders". Supposedly it slows the growth/regrowth of endo, although it didn't have that effect on me (after a year on this pill I had to have a second lap) but the appeal for me was really not having a period.
If you experience pain outside of your period, I don't know what effect it would have on that, but no PMS pain or menstrual pain is a step in the right direction, right?
The best part is that it's a daily pill, so if it doesn't work or you react badly it's really easy to stop!
