Lately I've taken to eating a bowl of fruit before I clean up to go to bed. I get, like a bunch of that sweet canned fruit, and then I chop up a handful of fresh strawberries and throw them in. The strawberries usually outnumber the canned fruit, it looks like a bowl of chopped strawberries.

I really love strawberries. Like, it's a LIFELONG obsession for me. I ate them when I was a baby, I ate them when I was a kid, I collected Strawberry Shortcake shit as best I could when it was fashionable, and I have a number of strawberry scented lip balms in my bags and make-up kits (Body Shop is the best, I've found).

And I maintain that finding the perfect strawberry, perfectly sun-ripened, bursting with sweet strawberry goodness, then kicking your arse in the end with a bit of strawberry tartness... *swoon* Oh GOD that's orgasmic!

Anyway, I'm trying madly to find alternative nibblies to chocolate and junk food. It's just so hard finding gluten-free stuff that doesn't cost heaps. Seriously, fresh fruit and vegetables are getting ridiculous! The only reason I can afford strawberries right now is cause they're in season and going for less than two dollars a punnet! I'm going to enjoy them while the going is good!

I don't want Mirena to get me fat. :( I'm putting on a bit of weight, I've noticed. Nothing bad, I mean, I still look skinny, but I liked how I was before. I was just a little more svelte. Now I'm sort of cutely curvy. Which isn't a bad thing (and I'm sure Paul doesn't mind) but I like to stay as fit as possible, given the circumstances. Plus I think all the bad food is contributing to my sore gutterwuts. :(

Rogue is terribly disappointed by my new habit though. She loves it when the cutting board comes out in this house, cause usually it means my Mum is trimming some meat and she loves to get the scraps. Every time I take out the board, it's fruit. She sniffs it and looks at me, like, "What are you doing? Why? Why do you do this?" The insult is doubled when I put it all in a bowl and eat it just like I do a bowl of vanilla ice-cream, which is her favourite thing to lick at when I'm not looking. Again, she sniffs and it's fruit, and she's all, "What?!" Very angry with me. Gives me the patented feline "Stupid monkey" expression.

Oh, and another new hankering I've had, which makes me all sorts of dorky, I swear. No really, I know I'm a dag but this puts me in a special category... I've been finding that I've been enjoying Fleetwood Mac. 70s Fleetwood Mac, mind, not the 80s stuff. Add that to my love of Heart, Rush and other groups like that, and you could say that I'm fairly camped in the 'Prog Rock' category lately. Maybe it's the harmonies and the abundance of mandolins in Heart and Fleetwood Mac, I don't know. It just chills me the fuck out and the harmonies really give my ears something to chew on. My brain ticks over and I can really read the music in my head. I've always liked complicated music and when I heard "The Chain" by FM the other day, my brain rejoiced and I wanted to sing along.

I mean, I'm not a total fuddy-duddy when it comes to music. I listen to Scissor Sisters. It's just that most music I hear on the radio just doesn't DO anything for me. I hear it and I can hear how every imperfection and mistake has been edited out and everything is just so over-produced. I can hear it when they pitch-shift mistakes out of the singer's voices and they never take any risks with music these days. No risks because so much money is on the line.

I really love music that you can hear the truth of the singer's voice. I mean, you listen to Led Zep and you KNOW that they didn't edit shit, they were just THAT GOOD. You had to be good at music once to get anywhere, which really isn't the case these days on the whole.

I do like new acts, it's just hard for me to sit through the great amounts of crap that get pumped at me. Like that "I kissed a girl and I liked it" song. I've heard it twice, maybe. My poor sister has been subjected to it far more than that. I remember the 90s "I Kissed A Girl" and it was a hot song, damn it! It wasn't, "I slut it up with bitches for my boyfriend" ya know?
Wow, this post has totally rambled off topic! So, point of post - new 'bad' habits - copious amounts of strawberries and Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie Wonder! That's the other thing I've been listening to! Talking Book by Stevie Wonder! BRILLIANT album!

I listen to "I kissed a girl" to twist it ironically in my head. I've already imagined out a full music video of a girl finding out that the girl who kissed her last night wasn't actually interested in anything but experimentation. A lot of phonetalking for the lyrics, while the first girl walks decisively home to the second girl to give her a punch in the nose. (That also solve my big annoyance with the song ending ridiculously abruptively. It's annoyeing when songs do that. "Hey, this beat is nice, but how do we end the song?" "Oh, I know, an abrupt finish, that will sound edgy." Yeah, if you mean bringing the listener to the edge of insanity! Lucky for me that I've already gone over that one ages ago.)

Recently though, I've gotten a lot into listening to The Police. Especially "Invisible Sun". Now there's a song I can put on repeat for hours.

My sister used to listen to the Police in the 80s.

...

I feel old. I remember when they were brand new. I was all of 5 years old, mind, but I liked music a LOT when I was a kid and liked to know who did what.

I didn't like Bruce Springsteen.

Hmmm.... where are you buying your fruit? I know that in Melbourne, the supermarkets charge ridiculous amounts for fruit and veg and that you're much better off going to somewhere like the Queen Victoria Market to get fruit. But I don't know the situation in Perth, so I could just be talking out my arse.

I'm going to Coles. I'd love to go to fresh markets but I'm too fucking sore to walk there. I'll have to get my boyfriend to take me every other week. Except... we don't wake up till late. :(

Hey guys - don't knock Katy Perry. I have to admit, I rather LIKE that song damnit. I think she's nice, btu then again, my taste in music leaves a LOT to be desired....

Strawberries are great - thry them with a little balsamic vinegar and sugar!!! Sounds weird, but tastes oh so good.........

Honey, I may be able to solve your strawberry woes, if I can figure out how to do it easily..... I'll talk to you about it when I get home.
