I am going in for my general anaesthetic and installation of Mirena in under two hours. I can't eat, Mum reckons. Even though the people there never told me to stop eating. Maybe they might give me jelly when I get there. I am STARVING.

Bugger fuck. She says absolutely nothing. I AM SO FUCKING HUNGRY. I just want to devour food. Yummy yummy food. There's cake. And burgers. I can smell the burgers - I just heated them up before remembering I can't eat. :,,,-( NO FAIR.

Can't I even have a lollipop? I want a lollipop! *frets*

you need to go under to have mirena? that's the IUC right?

Hrm... I had an IUD last year after Raven was born. The Dr. did it right there in his office, I was never put under.

Sorry aobut the not getting to eat tho. If they knock you out, they don't want you to eat tho. You tend to lose function of your bowels and what not.

Ahhhh. Well, the doctor thought that, seeing as I have extreme sensitivity down there, that it'd be best to put me under. Considering the freak-out that might happen so soon after the abuse, it's probably for the best.

I am *so* scared this thing will backfire on me and make my life miserable. :(

Ah, I see. I keep forgetting you have... complications. I guess it would be better to knock you out first.

I'm sure you'll be fine. If it backfires its very easy to have taken out. I know I had to have the IUD taken out because I was uncomfortable with it in. I was getting cramps and when I went to have the Dr. check it, he realized it wasn't sitting right. He took it out and wanted to put another in. I refused it. (The IUD is basically the same thing, just no chemical used on it. the one I had was the plastic T with a copper strand coming out of it.) It's been explained to me since then, that there might be cramps while your body gets used to having it in there. But that'll be it. So, hopefully it won't be too bad for you. *hugs* You'll be getting well wishes and good vibes from across the globe.

It's the depression and the acne that bothers me. That's the stuff I couldn't live with. (That might sound shallow, but if I have big pimples, they really hurt cause my skin is ridiculously sensitive).

Hrm you get pimples from it? =o/ I haven't heard that one. But we will be getting different types of the same thing. I don't blame ya for not wanting the acne and depression. But, just know if ever you need someone to talk to, I'm always around.

The no food thing is because you lose control of certain...er...bodily functions when you're under a general. Also, it makes some people vomit and they don't want you vomiting food when you're unconscious and intubated. They should have told you that one! Good luck, I hope everything goes well and that the IUD improves things fo you *big hugs*

They didn't tell you how long to fast? Wow. Any GA means no food or fluids at all for X hours. Usually protocols are something like overnight for morning list or tea & toast early breakfast (6 am) for an afternoon list. This is pretty important, as they'll ask you on admission how long you've fasted for, and may turn you out the door if you haven't. This information is usually told to you verbally and also given to you written on the booking papers.

good luck!

Splendid :) Stoopid RSS reader, made it look like it was more recent than that. I had one for three years, thought it was a rather brilliant little invention, so I hope it goes well for you.

Well, I expected to be gripped in the pain of the cramps from hell, and so far, SO FAR **crosses all fingers* it's just slight cramping that's slightly more sharp and owie than regular variety. After having the endo pains I've had for years, it's something I can quite frankly live with for a while.

I can just feel my uterus figuring this thing out, and it's kinda funny. Hopefully it'll shut the bitch up for a while. God willing!!

I don't have endo so my experience probably isn't all that applicable, but I had much the same - cramping and pain that was slightly more than a period for a couple or three days, but not double it or anything. Spotting and the odd twinge went on and off for three months, then nothing. Not a peep. One of the lucky ones.

Right at this moment, the pain is increasing but I'm dealing with it okay. Ooh, there's that back pain they warned of... fun! All this means is that I'm going to be lying in bed playing more DS. :-P
