I watched it for weeks! I got totally bloody attached to Toto the irresistibly cute Baby Cheetah.

And in the finale? THE LITTLE FUCKER GOES MISSING. And then the mother turns up without him. *sobs* Poor baby! I really loved that tenacious little bastard! *sobs more*

God speed, you cute little motherfucker.

A stunning painting of the little guy at this link. I also have a baby cheetah toy in my room that I've never had a name for. I do now.

ETA: Apparently his mother died in 2007 due to a fuck up by a vet. Good job, idiot!

You know how I am about cats, Liz. I am INSANE about cats. I am eternally miserable that I can only legally have two. (I sorta have three). I have not met a cat yet that I don't like.

And that baby cheetah was VERY EASY to like. God damn it! *sniffles* Poor little mite. I've been worrying about that little fucker for weeks. And he's dead anyway! :( *sobs* Apparently his mum Honey is pregnant again, though. So another generation continues.

I know what you mean. I was shattered too, but not devastated, because from day one I've been expecting a dead Toto, because his mother was just... not maternal. I don't mean 'not like humans' but 'regularly not being able to find where the cub was'. Of course, Mr. Young Furry World Explorer didn't help much. But still. They did say in the first or second episode that wild cheetahs have something like a 20-30% birth-to-first-birthday survival rate.

I'm hoping against hope that he was with his mum long enough to get the basics of hunting so he's out there somewhere, alone and lost but still alive... yeah, I'm crazy, but we never saw the body!

Well, three of Honey's children survived their Mum dying. They now hunt together on the Masai Mara - quite a team, apparently. So something of Toto lives on.
