We gotta counter this bullshit
Jun. 8th, 2008 08:10 pmOkay. I saw that mass boat rally here in Perth for the North Port Quay development.
It's time to counter that fucking shit. Who's with me? I am totally serious. It's time to show that we're not going to let our beautiful beaches be destroyed by developments. I want there to be a big freakin' protest but I know nothing about running these things and how to get the word out and stuff. I'd need help. Surely there must be some environmental groups wanting to step in and make a stand too?
I'm thinking on this. I'm scheming.
I thought, "Mass demonstration of people, with a group of women in mermaid costumes." Cause that would get attention. Very possibly negative attention but shit - whatever gets the cameras on us, right?

Date: 2008-06-08 12:26 pm (UTC)The beauty of this area is the space and the natural beauty. I agree there need to be more boat ramps and pens. We have to ease the pressure on the Swan river. But a huge honking development like this is just hideous and completely inappropriate for the area. Personally I'm going to fight the fucking thing.
ETA: Yeah, the marine landscape in that part of the ocean may not be a dazzling barrier reef but the kelp beds are needed. We might not be amazed by them but they serve a purpose, you know?

The resedential section is slated to be an example of creating sustainable, low impact dwelling.
I am personally sad that the government poo-pooed the idea the second it was announced, seemingly because they didn't come up with the idea.
