This is my current web hosting plan. I'm rather annoyed because apparently they don't support PHP on that plan. I have to upgrade to a 19.95 a month US plan if I want to use PHP. Which I think is really FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

I'm considering changing services cause if I'm not getting my money's worth, what's the bloody point?

ETA: I'm considering between the following hosts:

Dreamhost
Bluehost

But I'm also looking around still and keeping my options open. If you know of good hosts, please let me know!

I use Dreamhost and have been mostly happy with it. You can use my referral code "LOVEYOURSTUFF" for up to $87 off your purchase.

I also sublease out my account if you'd like to try it. I have it for my design company GrangeGraphics.com, where I host my business clients, but we've never used more than 1% of our space, so I give it out cheap or free through my side project FandomArt.com. I ask people to donate what they can, and work out how much space and bandwidth they'll need. You can see the list of stuff they offer/support here: http://dreamhost.com/hosting.html - Let me know if you'd like to have an account through me.

Mostly happy? What are you not happy about?

I'll either go with dreamhost or bluehost. Bluehost looks *really* good too, apparently. I'm going to keep researching hosts.

For three years, I'd say I was 100% happy, but it seems the past few months there's been some downtime when there's server had tech problems. Sure, they say 99.9% uptime is great, but it certainly didn't make me happy to have my site 404 for a few hours on a business day. Otherwise, it rocks. I love the long list of features, and that they now partner with Google Apps to provide domain emails, waaaaaaaay better than the old third-party SquirrelMail.

That is fucking ridiculous.

I can't remember what he's with, but you should ask Alex ([livejournal.com profile] theducks), as he was ranting at me about his service recently, and he certainly knows his shit in this domain.

Cool! My other problem is that I don't know how to fucking install this eFiction thing. I'm too stupid! *bawl*

I've been using LunarPages.com since last June (after an awful bout with Netrillium, who I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy). I haven't had any trouble with them. I haven't noticed any downtime or anything, either.

If you get the basic plan for 24 months, it's only $6.95 per month. This is for 1,500 GB Storage and 15,000 GB Bandwidth. You also get a free domain for life for as long as you stay with LunarPages (you just pay to transfer it over). Any other domains are $9.95 a year.

(At this point I would have recommended Netrillium for domain registration, but the bastards upped their price from $8.50 to $9.99, which is royally pissing me off right now, as my domains are up for renewal.)

But, back to Lunarpages. If you go to their signup page, and enter your email address but don't complete your entire order, you'll probably receive an email saying, "Don't go, we miss you!" This email will include a code you can use at checkout for $22 off your purchase. I'm not sure if this still works, but that's what happened when I signed up.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a look.

Awesome. If you do decide on them after comparing them to other companies, it would be great if you could visit http://www.aresxena.net/main.php and click on the banner for LunarPages. It's part of their referral program, and the money helps me keep AresXena.Net on the web.

I hope you figure out everything! I've taken a look at eFiction, too, and it drove me crazy, so I still just code by hand. Hence it taking forever to get my archive completely up. :)

I just switched to Bluehost and it's REALLY good. If you want to play around with Joomla or things like that, it will install it FOR you. It's really easy to find your way around.

Previously I used the Plus Plan from Delta Web Hosting (http://www.deltawebhosting.com/) and they were really good too, just not as much room as Bluehost and not as versatile (for the same price, too).

Grant started building his dragon art website on HostMonster, which uses PHP and was a great price. He's been very happy with it so far.
