Hey my darlings.

It's come to my attention that my dot.com is in serious need of a major overhaul. I've decided the following:

- Streamlining content. All fanfic under one website umbrella, all original music under one music page, same for original art and comic work.
- Getting an archive for my fanfic that is sort of like fanfiction.net or something - an archive that I can update over the browser instead of fiddling around with FTP and HTML coding.

Problem being: I have NO idea where to find (if I can find) any open source scripts or whatever. What do you guys suggest? I really want to get my site nice and sleek and full of information about what I do. But I'm so BAD at coding, I just don't know what to do about that.

Well, there's always eFiction for an open source fanfic CMS. :)

http://www.efiction.org/

I hear it's easy to install and allows for easy uploading of fics. A lot of fanfic archives use it. All the ladies at Ink and Quill use it. So does Abydos Gate's fanfic archive.

This woman does skins especially for eFiction. She also runs a fanfic repository. :)

*clappy hands* Yay! I thought of it because I'm contemplating using it for my fanfic archive. I'm far too lazy to code by hand these days. lol

As for the sex ... how's about NOW with HIM. *points*

One thing - does this script take over the entire website? Can I not run it from a subdirectory?

Hmm. I have no idea. I suspect that it wouldn't, that you'd be able to upload it to a subdirectory because as you can see from Ink and Quill, the main directory of the site looks to be done in regular coding and then there are the subsites (i.e. [livejournal.com profile] marag's Digressions and Diversions, [livejournal.com profile] medie's A Curious Mix, and [livejournal.com profile] azarsuerte's Probable Impossibilities).

So ... uhm. Yes to the subdirectories, and no to the taking over the whole site? lol

Meeeee tooooo. It looks perfect for what I want and easy to manage ... Once it's been installed. :/

I will look into it for us both. :)

Oh - I think you have to set up the database yourself, then run the installation php. I'm figuring it out! :D

That's what I was thinking before I gave up last night. :P

Let me know what you do! I have no clue how to create a database and I have to go to work now. *sigh*
