I really *really* want to enter the art show in Swancon this year. It's stressing me out though - there's a theme this year of "Fantastic Journeys". I was going to paint a lovely portrait of Doctor Who. I don't know if that really fits with the theme, though. And I was going to do a series of faerie and mermaid artwork. Again - don't know if that really fits in with the theme.

I can't really do anything else cause I'm one of these super annoying artists who can't do shit on demand, or just draw *anything* that's put to them.

The other thing is that I *really* need the money. I owe my Dad a fuckload of money, and I've not been exactly wise with my monely lately (my own stupid freakin' fault). I want to be able to start saving dosh again, I'm really behind the 8-ball.

I better get busy doing shit. Wedding flower-girl dresses to make, they are top priority. *tears hair out*

Ignore the theme, enter whatever you have. I don't remember theme being that important in any past years.

I was going to finish some awesome Jem character pictures I did - but that doesn't really go with Swancon, does it? :T

Who doesn't want to go on a fantastic journey with Dr Who?

I agree with strangedave, I have never been to Swancon but in my experience themes for this kind of art show are more to...give artists inspiration if they don't already have something they want to submit? Besides, Faeries and mermaids are Fantastic - and if you went on a journey you might see them :)

Also, Dr Who goes on fantastic journeys all the time. See? Perfect theme fit! ;)

This is interesting, because in the original 26 seasons of Doctor Who the Doctor is about as asexual a protagonist as television ever had. He's entirely non-sexual and largely non-romantic. It's part of the reason Doctor Who developed such a large gay following - he was the only TV action hero who wasn't interested in girls.

I actually think it's kind of sad they've pushed the character in the romantic kissy direction they have, because I think something that really made the series distinctive was lost in the process.

It's also fucking bizarre that there are actually fans out there who accuse Russell T Davies of pushing a "gay agenda" in producing the new series, because he's made the character aggressively heterosexual instead.

But remember: he's old enough to be your great x 20 grandfather and he used to look like Jon Pertwee.

You don't have to conform to the theme, so don't fret about that at all.

Are the flower girl dresses very pretty?! (Tell me if you need any help with the hen's night.I am sure you have ample siblings willing to help, but let me know all the same)

Okay. You've saved me a WORLD of work, as they're all drawn, just waiting to be coloured and rendered.

I miss his asexuality too, actually. It's so weird to see him crushing on women. Or flirting with men. LOL. It's just *weird*.

Oh yes, Russell's gay agenda. I wish I knew what this supposed gay agenda all us queer people are supposed to have IS.

I'll need someone to help me get it happening on the night, actually. I have to get some games together and that might require running around and organising shit on the night. :)

That's fine if you don't like him. Leaves more for me and the other Pertwee admirers.

I think my objection is less the fact that it's happening and more the half-hearted *way* it's happening. The fact that the Doctor has a granddaughter - and there is zero indication in the series she is anything other than his biological granddaughter - directly implies that the guy's had sex at least once, for example.

Doctors Grant thinks are arguably hot or at least fanciable, in a heterosexual-admiring-other-blokes way:

Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant.

Doctors Grant does not find hot in any conceivable way:

Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Colin Baker, Peter Cushing.

I agree with you except Pertwee and Eccleston. Eccleston does nothing for me. But Tom Baker could have me any day of the week.

BTW, why are you talking about yourself in the third person?

Okay, I'll just remember that as one of your idiosynchracies.

Grant: Sometimes talks about himself in the third person.

Sonia: Sounds angry when she's happy, and possibly vice-versa.

Which reminds me... Would you be interested in info on AggieCon's art show? It's in Texas, March 27-30.

Eh, it's a REALLY bad time for me right now. All my resources are going into Swancon, and there's no way I could afford the air mail, sending artwork over to Texas! Never mind the fact that my sister's getting married so I'm all tied up helping her with that! Thank you anyway! I appreciate the thought!
