Those. Look at the way their tails flip so fluidly! I've been watching women swim under water to sort of get how a mermaid would move, but it was too painfully obvious that there are only two or three sort of main points of articulation involved, where-as with a real fish tail there'd be a string of them. In this ad they have tails that actually flip back and forth and bend in ways legs never would. SO COOL!

Ahyup, fish spines have a lot more vertebrae than mammals do, so the tail is a lot more flexible on the whole than legs are.

But on the other hand, the more advanced in evolution and generally speedy the fish is, the more fusion and stiffening for power you get. Think of the tuna as opposed to an eel.

Anyhow, you know I'm a fish geek. So if you've ever got questions about fish biology/anatomy/behavior/whatnot and how it might relate to mermaid stuff, just holler my way. :)

It's a great advert - it had a decent run in the cinemas in the UK, and looks considerably better on the big screen.

Of course, hon! Actually, when I start writing the underwater scenes, I might need someone to look them over for any fuck-ups fact-wise. If you ever have the time, lemme know. ;D

Just drop me a line when you have them. If it'll take me more than a reasonable turnaround time--say 48 hours--I'll give you an estimate. :)
