Fun with contact lenses!!

First of all - happy birthday to my friends who had their birthday yesterday. Semagic told me who it was but I quickly forgot cause I'm a total doofus.

Anyhew - just wanted to talk about my stupid spending spree today. One one set of items. I got myself a three month supply of contact lenses.

Dad got seriously pissed at me cause I couldn't really afford them. But I really wanted to look nice for the party this weekend, and still be able to see people. Plus eventually I want to do gigs when I'm healthy again, and I can't do my big glamourous outfits if I have dorky glasses on. Don't get me wrong, I love my dorky glasses. ADORE them. But sometimes I want a different look.

And already I feel so happy and young again. Cause I don't have the glasses on and my eyes are the main point of my face again!! They were hidden behind my glasses before and looked a bit smaller cause of the lenses. Now they can be big and blue and uncovered and my eyebrows can have their full effect again. My whole face is all together again! YAY!

They *are* a bit dry, though. I might have to get eye drops or something for when I'm wearing them. *sigh*. And I have the HARDEST time getting them in and taking them out. My eyes are seriously sensitive. *sigh* You'd think with the years of putting on make-up that I'd be used to doing shit to my eyes! It took me half an hour to learn how to use them. *sigh* Dad killed me for taking so long.

Okay. I'm going to do all sorts of creative things. I finally downloaded season three of Xena! YAY BITTORRENT!

I love my contact lenses, but I have sensitive eyes too, and I remember when I first started wearing them, 3 years ago, my ophthalmologist prescribed me some drops to keep them from drying (Opti-free Rewetting Drops).

So yeah... Yay eyes! :P

It's important, right? That feeling you get when you realise you're free of your glasses, that you don't have to sacrifice your vision for a certain look? I'm having hellish guilt trips for spending that sort of money on myself but I really, really felt I needed to do it. And I feel so much better with them in my life now, as an option. I feel much younger now.

When I started using lenses, the first time I tried to put them on I took 40 minutes (!!), but since I have to use them everyday I got lots of practice, and not I only take a few seconds :P

And it's incredible how glasses hide some of our features... I think I prefer myself without glasses, but somedays I'm so lazy to put my lenses on... hehe :P

Well, I definitely prefer myself without glasses. My eyes are the focal feature of my face. They're big, they're blue and they balance everything out. The glasses make them look small and I look all nosey and weird. But I do like the frames a *lot*, and they're my super!Geek glasses. I just like having an option!

Ah, don't think I can. I'm getting dressed up for my friend's party and then I am going to drive to Fremantle. Northbridge is kinda the other way :T
