The only post I'll make about Paris.

You know, I was reading an article about Paris Hilton going back to jail on ONTD. I don't really care about celebrity bullshit but I think there's an underlying issue here that people seem to be missing. She wasn't in trouble for having drugs on her person and harming herself - she was in trouble for flouting a punishment for a DUI - (drinking under the influence). The judge in charge of the case knows very well that this isn't time for a slap on the wrist. Every dumbass bitch that relates to Hilton will see the shit she's going through for that DUI and they'll know - it's serious. Baca is baka! Sure, it might be a 'minor' offense this time - by the grace of GOD!
Do you know what comes to my mind when I hear about young, fuckwitted dumb sluts driving around drunk out of their minds? (Strong words - you're about to find out why).
The sound of terror and upset in my mother's voice when she got the phone call about Lisa. My sister Lisa in hospital, face swollen like a fucking pumpkin because she had been in an accident - hit head-on in her car by a drunk-driver coming the other direction. Her knee split open like a fucking cake, and all the shit she had to go through to walk normally again. The mother-fucking DENT in the steering wheel of the 1970s Kingswood Holden she was driving when it happened, that dent being from where her HEAD impacted on it. The marks in the mangled door of the jaws of life - the only thing that could get her out of that fucking car. The fact that this was a 1970s Kingswood - steady, strong, SOLID car - crumpled up like a piece of tinfoil from the collision. Oh, and even today I'm reminded of it. See, my sister's face has a bit of nerve paralysis from the fact that there was a crack along her face-bones and a nerve was pinched as a result. So her smile is sort of wonky compared to how it used to be. She was self-conscious about that for ages.
Paris was quoted as saying:
"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton
You know what's not right? The fact that she risked the lives of OTHER people due to her stupidity, and the selfish belief that she shouldn't have to pay for that crime.
I nearly lost my sister cause of the 'minor' offense of drunk driving. If she had have died, I would not have her, or my nieces for that matter. I wouldn't wish the pain and heartbreak even a non-fatal crash brings on my worst enemies. It happened when I was eleven and it still fucking makes me mad.
You know what I want them to do? After Paris serves her term - walk her through a ward filled with people who've been hurt because of drunk drivers. Let her SEE what damage can be done.
So, you'll understand if I'm not sorry for Paris. Not at all. I want her education on this to be thorough. Oh, and by the way?
Every time I see a 'free Paris' icon, I want to punch a bitch.

Date: 2007-06-09 07:42 pm (UTC)Terrible what happened to your sister. I think in the States the socio-cultural stigma of drink-driving has been the driving factor behind the reduction in deaths and injuries. Long gone are the days when it was the grist for comedy in I Love Lucy. Plus in this car-dependent society having a license revoked is a huge deal, so it's a disincentive to be that stupid. Eventually most of the offenders got whittled down to the hard-core alcoholics, the idiots who thought they wouldn't get caught, and those who think they're above the law thanks to connections. Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but I think we've gotten the death/injury numbers from drink-driving to the lowest we possibly can at this point. Unless we subsidize more public transit options and cab rides, of course, but Americans tend to be a stingy lot regardless.

Date: 2007-06-10 06:47 am (UTC)I don't know. Apparently she brings joy to the world or something. The only thing she brings me is the urge to vomit.

Date: 2007-06-09 09:50 pm (UTC)Geh... That's just shit, why do people feel empathy for her? I can't feel bad for her, because there exists no reason for me to feel bad. Was she forced to drive that car? Was she planted with drugs? Did she gain any punishment that was extremely severe and not befitting the crime?
Not from what I've heard, ergo I don't feel sorry for her.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:09 pm (UTC)I know a lot of people drive under the influence. A LOT. That fact bothers me. The fact that "everyone does it" doesn't make it more acceptable, and it definitely doesn't make it any safer. I'm so, so glad that she's in jail, and yes, some of it is because it's Paris Hilton and I can't stand her, but a lot of it is because her "I'm the only real person" attitude is one that shouldn't go unchecked. She put any number of lives at risk; she got caught; she should pay the price. Like anyone should. This is definitely not "too harsh".

I didn't know there was such a thing. I'm kind of sick a little bit, now. :P

Date: 2007-06-09 10:13 pm (UTC)Yeah, I can't bring myself to feel one iota of sorry for Paris. One can hope she'll learn from this. But I'm not holding my breath. :P

Date: 2007-06-09 11:53 pm (UTC)PLUS, when she and Nicole stayed at my uncle's house while filming the Simple Life 2, my dad met them and said that Paris acted as if everyone was beneath her. He said that Nicole was more real than Paris. This is about Paris's entitlement issues and thinking she is above the law.

Date: 2007-06-10 12:18 am (UTC)And you know what's not right either? The way that her parents are ENABLING her and saying that, "It's not fair!" Bullshit. What's not fair is that she should've gotten more jail time for her irresponsible behavior, but because she's a so-called celebrity, she only got 45 days. She should count her lucky stars that she wasn't one "of the regular people." I have no patience with people who willfully drink and drive. They're idiots, plain and simple. She should do some type of community service working with people who were victimized by drunk drivers - and I like your idea as well. She should get a harsh dose of REAL reality, not that like that bullshit "reality" show that she does with her buddy Nicole Ritchie.
I am also sorry about what happened to your sister. That's just terrible and I'm glad that she's okay now, aside from the pinched nerve. She was most lucky in that respect.

Date: 2007-06-10 06:59 am (UTC)Lisa's doing really well these days. Two beautiful girls, a good husband, a lovely house and she went and started doing lab work in a college course - it was amazing! This woman that left high school in year ten to work at coles, going to college and learning about all this complicated scientific stuff that makes my poor lame arty-farty head burn! I'm immensely proud of her. She is very lucky. Everyone was thanking God after the accident. Someone was definitely watching over her.

Date: 2007-06-10 02:21 pm (UTC)I'm so glad that Lisa's doing so well these days - and yay for your techie sister, LOL! It seems like most of the people in your family are artistic types, so it would make sense that there would be at least one person who would be different and would excel in the scientific field.

She wouldn't understand. I don't follow her news, but from what I've gathered, she hasn't got the slightest trace of empathy.
