Fun night last night - karaoke at KKs. Ran into Ryan (mix_o_choc) again after a long time. He's looking and sounding fabulous lately, the doll!

But uuuuurgh. I had three vodka, lemonade and raspberry cordial stuff drinks spaced over the entire evening - about four hours. I've woken up this morning feeling like my head is being pounded in from the inside and that my guts are tying themselves in knots trying to evacuate themselves. SO nauseous, very crampy in the bowels. Okay, note to self: Avoid. VODKA.

Obviously, my body does not liketh the vodka. I don't know what to do about this hangover. I took a stemzine for the nausea cause it really is quite pointless, me vomiting now. The alcohol has been in my guts all night, I've probably absorbed it all.

You know what I want to do? Sleep. It's fucking 8am and I'm awake. I'm tired but I can never sleep when I'm drunk or hungover. Why is that? It's fucking crazy.

I'm going to *try* to rest up and relax.

three vodka, lemonade and "raspberry cordial stuff"

That would probably be grenadine, and it sounds much less like a problem with vodka, and more like a massive sugar overdose and crash :-P

You reckon? I can handle sugar pretty well. It was a classic hangover for me. My head is still sore. :(

Probably a combination. I'd blame the sugar on the nausea and bad guts. Blame the headache on dehydration caused by alcohol and sugar, probably accentuated by increased activity due to the sugar rush.

But ask Dr K for a second opinion.

ohhh man ... thank God I don't get drunk as I'd probably get really sick. :/ I know after two glasses of wine I was falling over my feet.

sorry to hear you're feeling so crappy. Hope it's worked it's way out of you system by now.

'course, don't forget that two glasses of wine is at least 3 standard drinks (more for fortified), which for women, puts you over the limit to drive in .au (.05) if consumed in an hour. Heck, would put most men borderline too. (let alone actual physical effects, dependent on hydration and food)

Good to know that. All I know is it made me very tipsy. I waited a good hour and a half before I even thought about driving home. My friends thought there was something wrong with me as they downed beer after beer and I just sat there with my glass of water.

Heh, also to consider - the beer they were drinking was between 3% and 4% alcohol (5% if they knew what they were doing), meaning they had to drink at least 2 beers for every glass of wine you had. So, after they drink a quart or so of beer, then you'd be on even ground. Maybe. Plus, it is easier to drink a lesser volume of liquid than a larger, meaning wine can get into your body a lot faster than a quart of beer :-P In short - I wouldn't judge your ability to hold booze based on that anecdote, and I would mock your friends for drinking American beer ;-)

Wow you've really done your research. ;) But they easily downed 4 beers for the time it took to drink my one glass of wine ... that's the one thing about beer - you drink it, you don't sip it. ;)

As for American beer, my friend was drinking Guinness and the other had Corona (sp?) with lime. So I guess they're not total uncultured heathens.
