I might talk to my doctor about this.

Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome.

It certainly fits with the problems I have getting to sleep. The pattern of late to sleep, late to rise is the one my body slips to most easily. It takes a LOT of effort and a lot of pain and fuss to get my body into a normal rhythm, and if I disturb it just slightly, say, staying up later than ten o'clock, it'll trigger another phase of late-to-sleep late-to-rise sleeping patterns.

And it's SO fucking frustrating, because people say, "Just force yourself to get up" or "Don't go to sleep" (when referring to my daytime naps). But the need to sleep is SO strong that it's usually *painful* to me to stay up. I sometimes develop headaches and muscle and joint pain is not unusual if I devoid myself of proper sleep.

I have to go to sleep early tonight because I have to go to Centrelink tomorrow, and also make some phonecalls (doctor, vet, etc). I'm tired but I just can't *sleep*, no matter how much hot milk, valerian and orgasms I have. Fuck it.

Huh. I'd never heard of that before, but it may explain why I sleep through my alarm almost everyday...

*hugs*
