Best give you fair warning before you get any deeper into s2 -- Rose meant the world to Nine. Ten, not so much. The show is shipping Nine/Rose OTP, Ten/Rose Doomed Couple, not straight out Doctor/Rose.

Yeah, I think of it as less a spoiler than a necessary warning. Because I had a sort of Major Disillusionment thing late in s2 when I finally figured it out. (It seems that the people who got into Who only with the new series and haven't gone back to check out the Classic stuff have been totally unaware that the format requires that the Doctor's string of Companions be disposable. Mostly they leave voluntarily, a few have been killed off or deliberately dumped by the Doctor -- most notably his own granddaughter in his very first incarnation -- but the only way to OTP the Doctor with any Companion is to end the show on her, and since the New Who got renewed for more seasons beyond the first, Rose had to go.)

Yeah, I was talking about this with Trudy Cooper (comic artist of www.platinumgrit.com) who is a HUGE Dr. Who fan. Old school. Knows them ALL. She really doesn't seem to mind at all, but I'm all *lip-wibble* "buh-buhbuh - I just got to like her!". As I said to her, I don't respond to cast changes very well.

I'm still getting over Wesley leaving Star Trek. I was so depressed about that. For WEEKS.
