Our Lady Athena



I don't know why I scanned it in so damned tiny, or made it that small. This picture took me *years* to do, literally. I scanned it in some time in 2003, I think, maybe earlier. I finally finished it this week. I'm doing that - finished pictures that I've taken forever to sit down and paint. The painting all up probably took me about three or four hours to do. I think she's very beautiful. There's a thousand things wrong with it, but I don't really care right now. I'm just glad it's DONE!

I draw it, scan it in, then colour it in Photoshop. I'm not very good at Painter for some reason.

Pallas Athena is hands down my favorite of the Greek Mythology.

And I forgot to mention that the drawing itself is superb. >< Medusa incorporated into the forgot-the-name-for-it? Makes sense since her shield was used to defeat Medusa. What type of owl is that? It looks both majestic and cute. :D

Aegis. It was made from the snakes of Medusa's head, as the Gorgon's head was a gift to her from the hero (Perseus? Theseus? One of the usses) who slew it because she'd helped him defeat her.

It's a Eurasian Eagle Owl. And the snakes are based on a species of snake from the north of Greece.
