Okay doods. Do any of you know of some kind of software that I can use for compression? You know, like, with a microphone and stuff? Cause I am having a shit of a time finding anything. It's just something I want to be able to run while I'm recording my voice.

I think I'm just going to have to get my hands on a fucking better microphone, that won't piss it's pants every time I start singing above talking volume. *sigh* And I so wanted to show you guys my new song today. :(

Hey there,

so I'm not totaly sure what you are getting at by decompression....
are you experiencing pops and hiss (for example breathe noise)?
or is it that you are getting a really muffled signal?

If you can give more details I may be able to lead you in the right direction to resolve the issue.

The signal peaks because I'm too loud for the microphone to handle. I doubt there's anything for it but .. I meant COMPRESSION. Sorry. I'm an idiot. LOL. I fixed it.

You know. To stop it peaking and making the speakers rattle and the sound fucked and buzzy.

I have much audio software, though mostly Mac only, including various compressors.
I also have microphones, though really good large condensor vocal mikes are in short supply. Decent dynamics, on the other hand, I have plenty of, which should do for demos.
Unfortunately, I'm over east until after easter. After that, though, I'd be happy to help you out.

Personally, I recommend Goldwave as a VERY good piece of simple, powerful audio software. Record in high quality wave, then you can compress the dynamics a bit, do a low pass filter to remove the hiss, etc...

Check it out.
(yes, Adobe and others have stuff, but this is SOOO much quicker and just as good)
