3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. Might be the three orgasms I had. Who knows. Or it could be the fact that I slept in till 1:30 and then had another nap from 5:30 to about 7:30. My sleeping is all screwed up. I usually sleep when I'm in pain. I was up really late on Saturday night, so that didn't help.

The other thing is that the Muse is with me. I'm feeling creative. It's poking me, poking, poking, poking. The Muse wants me to make something really good. Something I can be really proud of. It's something big and I'm as fidgety as a kid on his first day at school.

I might tool around on the computer a bit, then go sketch for a while. Don't know if I'll do much - I'm too tired for that. God I hate this state - too awake to sleep, to tired to actualy DO anything. Finished the book on the Kings and Queens of England. That was a good read, I enjoyed it. Pity it only went up to 2002, cause it ended on a rather sombre note, and I think Prince William and Prince Harry have lifted the public image just a tad. It helps that millions of British girls want to have randy sex with them. Instead it was all, "Australia nearly got rid of the monarchy. Di died and everyone hated the Royals and blamed it on them, and Mag and the Old Mum bought the farm. Bit of a shit time of it for Liz II, really." I think, in the face of such huge societal, economic and political changes, the British Monarchy has done pretty well.

I'm not even sure why I like the monarchy so much. Maybe it's the old romantic in me, loving the fact that an institution over a thousand years old still goes on. Maybe it's my Mum's upbringing, when in my youth there was a poster on the wall of a portrait of the royal family. Or maybe I just relate to a woman with more bling than she knows what to do with. Who knows. I just accept it. Then again, I'm pretty laid back about the whole thing because it doesn't really directly affect me. Those living in Britain, where the Monarchy actually might have some sort of impact on the way things are, might have a vastly different opinion to me.

Mainly, I enjoyed the bit where the King of Scotland was the King of England too. I could just hear ol' Longshanks spinning like a lathe in his grave at that point. Giggle-fest!

And a hello to Tom Povey. I love you, poofta.

Honestly? Have a period of time where you're a sponge. Read. Read fiction, non-fiction, whatever you can get your hands on. Whatever interests you. Let your mind wander. Your brain is hungry for new material. When there's no new material, the Muse leaves you. Your artistic abilities are like a wilderbeest. It needs to go where it needs to go to survive. And you can't control where it goes.

And sometimes... it... gets... eaten by lions?

Okay, that analogy also ran away without my control. But you get my point.

Listen to music, look at some art. Have a strictly no-producing period and it'll hit you and you won't be able to control yourself. :)

Wow, after three orgasms I'd be sleeping like a baby :) I think my Muse went on holiday without me. I haven't felt like reading or writing fan fic, reading books, and even doing the podcast isn't appealing right now. I would take a break but people like the podcasts and I don't want to disappoint them. It also doesn't help that I've had so many wonderful ideas for my book but no time to just sit down and write for a few hours. It's one of those times where I'd just like to pull my hair out and run away screaming :p

At those times I rent a movie or two and chill. But I'm selfish like that! LOL!

I like the monarchy. :)

And really, living in Britain doesn't mean the monarchy has any effect on my life. The most connection I've ever had with them is being shown the house in St Andrews where Prince William stayed. And made up scenarios in which he randomly walked out of the door, was instantly smitten with me and made me crown princess etc. I can see why lots of people find them redundant and want to get rid of them because they don't have any effect on the working of the state and can be "annoying" because lots of people don't think they provide a good influence, especially the younger ones. (Honestly, Harry, dressing up as a Nazi wasn't very clever- but it was funny!) And of course because they're stinking rich and receive lots of tax payers' money.

For all that, I wouldn't want to see them go. It's a tradition and such a big part of our culture. And besides, I'd far rather the rich in England were the monarchy in their country estates with their hunting (not any more grr) and lovely clothes than some big business man with no morals (Prince Charles is actually good on the environment and organic food etc) or some idiot who won the lottery.

I know I romanticize but still... anyway, here's an English girl's perspective. :)

Your comment has made me smile! (William is rather dishy, isn't he?) Personally, I think Harry dressing up as a Nazi is freakin' hilarious. Just the sort of thing that this family would do. Especially given his German ancestry! But then again, I'm the sort of person that finds the Duke of Edinburgh an absolute hoot. He can do no wrong. :-P
