I'm painfully Australian when it comes to vegemite. I love it. I don't eat it in huge amounts - I like it spread relatively thinly on my toast so that it's a nice dark-brownish-black spread.

The best thing ever? Two pieces of toast, one with vegemite, with sliced cheese in the middle. A nice mature tasty cheese, btw, none of that plastic shit.

Proceed to eat. It's warm, crunchy, with soft cool pieces of cheese in the middle, and the salty yummy bitey burst of vegemite.

*happy sigh* That's the best, man.

if vegemite's the same as marmite, try it with philadelphia cream cheese on toast. mmm...

Yes, I love those. Mmm.

Now I want one. *goes in search of cheese*

Ahaha, I am amused that my only food icon has "SEX" written on it :D

Do you know where to get alphabetti spaghetti? My sister wants to feed it to her kids and she can't find any here in Perth. :T

I have no idea...I don't think I've seen it since I was a kid. Which is weird, because it's fun to play with :)

Hmm. If I discover any, I shall let you know.

No, Marmite tastes a bit different. Sweeter than Vegemite.

Pardon a stupid American, but....What the hell is Vegemite? I've heard of it but I never knew what it was.

It's a tarry looking yeast spread that's very salty and tangy somehow. It's hard to explain. It's an institution here in Australia. Like Peanut Butter to Americans, except we don't put it in chocolate bars (Cause that would be fucking disgusting).

Vegemite. ...That's the stuff that looks like chocolate, right?

Er, I have never heard of Vegemite. Can you purchase it in the US?

"He smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich, and said. 'Do you come from a land down under?'"

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. ;-)

No, it looks more like motor oil. Less like chocolate, more like motor oil, for sure. But it tastes fucking awesome.

Uhm, maybe at a foreign food store of some sort. Strangely, the company that makes Vegemite is American owned. If worse comes to worse I could probably send you some. :)

Heh, I looked for it on amazon.com. The closest thing I found was something called "Marmite", which a reviewer expressly said was -not- Vegemite.

I'll have to keep my eyes open.
